I myself have helped organized functions at major hotels here in Cebu as well as in one in Manila (Makati Shangrila) and have learned from first-hand experience that the organizing committee makes or breaks an event.
Seems like misunderstanding caused by wrong expectations.
thank you for being open-minded and listening to both sides of the story. pier one is doing their best to host a great party for all their paying customers.
even if the epson event had misunderstandings involved (due to their non-payment at the end), their christmas party itself was a great event. the president and most employees enjoyed their christmas party. there was a great band playing that night (sound groove) and most of the epson employees were standing up and dancing, having fun and enjoying the party, and even getting drunk. that was a friday and there were 600 customers in the restaurant that night enjoying the music from the sound groove band through the speakers. they hire only the best bands to play at pier one. the epson people had the aircon area exclusive to themselves, so they really enjoyed the night.
the contract is a protection for the restaurant and the customer so that there will be no misunderstandings. that's why the contract is very important for pier one. the restaurant will follow to the letter what is written in the contract, nothing more and nothing less. that's why the organizers of the event have to be specific in what they want, so that the event goes according to their expectations. pier one does not have verbal contracts, only written contracts. i really agree with you on that, the organizers can really make or break the event.
