My Boss said are you gay,
I said does it matter,
My boss said not really,
I told my boss, yes i'm gay,
My boss said you're fired queer,
I guess it mattered!

God asked, Do you love yourself,
I said does it matter,
God said yes,
I said how can I love myself if I am gay?,
God said because that is the way I made you,
Nothing will ever matter again.

Let's make something clear...
Just because a person thinks homosexual acts are wrong doesn't make him homophobic. Homosexual acts ARE wrong, and there is a lot of scientific and moral teaching to back up that statement.
Now, if homosexuals want their beliefs to be tolerated, then they (and their supporters) have to show the same kind of tolerance for those who do not agree with their beliefs.
Sadly, some of the most intolerant people in the world are militant homosexuals. I have seen many sad examples of thewir intolerance.
reading this thread, anti-descrimination bill mo gawas lang gyud nga inutil klase pagkabalaod pananglitan
kay nagno man? how about and mga nagita ug trabaho nga di kakuha ug trbaho kay kulang sa height, dili pleasing ang personality, muslims ba ron nga nangita ug trabaho unya g reject diretso kay tungod lagi kay muslim....
wow is that not a descrimination? ngano na gays ra man ug lesbian ilang gi hisgutan unsa man kuno ang tinuod nga sulod anang anti-descrimination bill? sad to say that
mannyamador:
does it follow that because one thinks that homosexual acts, ergo homosexuality, is wrong one then can go on hating them as humans?
i believe this is precisely the central theme of anti-discrimination legislations, whether the issue be ***, sexual preference/behavior or race. morality (i.e., whether one thing is wrong or right) issues where the utilitarian aspect is borderline to neutral simply cannot be legislated. moral questions that can go under legislation are those that have a more-or-less clear positive or negative utilitarian value; in this case, the humanity of the individual.
it then follows that whether or not we think that homosexuality is wrong, we can still agree that they are humans, therefore deserving to be treated equally just like any other.
on the issue of tolerance, well, it would be plain folly to say that those who do not share their beliefs should demand 'tolerance' when the latter obviously is more numerous than the former. it is also no big secret that non-acceptance almost always equate to hate, and hate to discrimination. it also is an undeniable fact that much more discrimination is directed towards homosexuals and those with diffrentiated gender identities than those done by homosexuals towards the heterosexual crowd.
fortunately, a middle way is present. we may not be able to agree that homosexuality and acting differently from socially prescribled gender, but we can respect and accept them as humans. this is the core of the anti-discrimination bill or any anti-discrimination legislation for that matter.
empahsis should also be given to the House of Representatives' "approval in principle", which directs to us to the essence of the anti-discriminatory bill as explained above. minor ammendments may be needed after an open debate regarding some of its provisions, but the important fact is what the bill stands for.

wow, some people are way, way off topic. amazing.
korek! :mrgreen:Originally Posted by gareb
you have a good point. why don't they put up an anti-discrimination bill that specifies and covers all kinds of discrimination. this bill is still a good thing though. i'm gay but i abhor all kinds of discrimination and i would fully support something that would protect people who are marginalized for something that is in their nature, like sexuality, race/color, or gender.Originally Posted by Jpacs29

This anti-descrimination bill should be wide in scope. It should be against the law to descriminate.
