    Default ANTI- TERRORISM BILL II

RP, US sign new anti-terror pact

THE PHILIPPINES and the United States yesterday formalized a new security arrangement to bolster their battle against terrorism and other threats, according to officials from both countries.

The accord involves setting up a new joint panel called the Security Engagement Board (SEB), described in a joint statement by Foreign Secretary Alberto Romulo and Defense Secretary Avelino Cruz Jr. as a “new consultative mechanism for cooperation on nontraditional security concerns,” including terrorism, transnational crime, maritime safety and security, natural and man-made disasters, and pandemic outbreaks.

“The establishment of the SEB further strengthens our partnership,” the statement quoted US Ambassador Kristie Kenney as saying, noting that Manila is Washington’s longtime friend and major non-NATO ally.

This could help us greatly in fighting for those terrorists who still want to bring out their grudges in the Philippines. We have seen a number of incidents which could lead to a full blast terrorist acts which are very alarming, to say the least.

With the help of US who is an ally when it comes to security measures against terrorism, we can rely on a more sophisticated tone in fighting against terrorism. Hopefully, we could have our own anti-terrorism law which could further fight our stance against terrorism.

Our fight against terrorism would further be aided by the passage of an anti-terrorism law.

This bill has been pending for so long in Congress.

These positive reports in the international media are a testament to our commitment to fight terrorism in all its forms.

Asean top cops target ‘emerging terrorists’

The chiefs of police of 10 member-countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations have agreed to exchange information on emerging militant and radical groups and prevent them from developing into terrorist organizations.

The 26th Asean Chief of National Police conference in Kuala Lumpur was attended by National Police Chief Arturo Lomibao, who presented a paper on current transnational crime concerns, including efforts aimed at strengthening international cooperation with other police forces in the region.

“The PNP is proud to take part in the efforts of the international law enforcement community in maintaining an atmosphere of peace and stability in the Southeast Asian region,” Lomibao said upon his return to Manila from Kuala Lumpur over the weekend.

If I were a legislator, I would not vote for this anti terrorism bill. This law is only passed to persecute the political opposition and not the terrorist. It will give the government a license to raid media outlests, arrest individuals all in the name of the fihgt against terror. It will give the Army of Fascist in the Philippines (AFP) a license to violate human rights.

Yeah right. Where in the anti-terrorism bill is it stated that the political opposition should be persecuted as terrorists?? Have you even read this anti-terrorism bill yourself? Otherwise that's just another propaganda of the opposition.
