Dagan Caritas is a dynamic running group composed mostly of iStoryans namely: bukanig_ayingot, carrotski, catchmeifyoucan, fioretti, indie, ireneolive, icon_king, joylove, miss_ann, nlieds, novemz, renz8, vahnhelsing, xinevirtucio. They all share the same passion in running and pure clean fun.
In retsrospect, 2014 was the best year for the DC front runner, Vahn Helsing, because he tried so many things in running. Routes may have become harder but turned out to be beautiful running routes in the mountain barangays compared to his previous experiences as a runner. Vahn Helsing even tried a night run alone for the first time.
As for his group, he recalled, “Last year was a blast for DC. Our first out-of-the-province ultra marathon was great since all of our DC ladies finished stronger than us, guys. We had another champ in 100 km.” So Vahn described year 2014, a year of "rocking the boat."
So it is inevitable to say that this year will be a year of "insanity" since most will be upgrading to another level of madness, according to Vahn with enthusiasm. So upgrading meant “running a 200km to 280km ultra.” Now that is definitely a BIG dream and challenge of the group.
So what are the goals for Dagan Caritas for 2015?
“It has been always our goal to have an outreach four times a year. We will try to have better and bigger outreach activities this year,”he shared.
True enough, Dagan Caritas not only quench their thirst for adventure either on the road or on a laid back feel of the nature but they also nourish their souls with a whole lot of love for the less-privilege by engaging themselves with outreach programs to different barangays as their way of giving back to the community.
Vahn Helsing ended the interview with a helpful tip to the newbies in the running field,
“Enjoy running, do not just run in the road, run in the mountains. Running is a meditation. It's one of the best therapy that is free.”
