• Miss Cebu 2013 Coronation Night


      The 29th Miss Cebu Coronation Night will be held on January 16, 2013, Wednesday, 6:30 p.m. at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino, telecast live on Studio 23 and streamed on http://www.cebucitytourism.com/misscebu2013.



      The 12 ladies vying for the prestigious title are are Marie Ann “Ann” G. Maraon, Therese Christine “Timay” E. Llamada, Janessa Fe “Ja” M. Alcarez, Frances “Je” R. Dy, Marivee Ann “Mavee” C. Velasquez, Reinalyn “Rein” A. Nonol, Patricia Ann “Trish” T. Estuart, Namrata Neesha “Neesh” L. Murjani, Ely Rose Apple “Apple” S. Angcon, Maria “Yang” S. Gigante, Maebelle Erica “Erica” C. Barro and Mary Lorens “Lorens” V. Goyenechea.

      This year’s pageant theme is “CEBU: Gateway to a Thousand Journeys”. Travelers continue to discover a thousand and one reasons to journey to the island where every January the beat of drums resonates with passion in celebration of the Sinulog feastival. People from all over come back to Cebu all year round for its culture, heritage, resources, talent and its people, for business, pleasure and both but more than just in the literal sense, Cebu being the Queen City and a center of progress and growth in the country plays a central and strategic role where its economic strength lies in the people’s creativity and industry marked by resilience and a sunny disposition. It holds within her a sea of possibilities for trade, tourism and its creative industries of which it continues to offer the world and gain global recognition from, making each visit to Cebu an unforgettable journey of many pleasurable experiences.

      The stage is set for a spectacular show within a show featuring various entertainers such as Primo, a group of three tenors, a star of the “The King and I” plus an under the sea-inspired number featuring an acrobat act from Resorts World Manila, among others. To add to the sensory experience and to highlight Cebuano creativity, the candidates will be wearing the creations of Cebu’s top designers with maquillage by the MakeUp Artists Club of Cebu. For the opening number, the Miss Cebu beauties will be wearing collections that pay tribute to Cebuano artisan and handicrafts- weaving, furniture and embroidery -- as interpreted by designers Alejandro Godinez, Rey Humberto Villegas, Peewee Senining, Brian Aloquin, Barbie Alvez and Ivan Belocura. Another segment will feature the creations of Yvonne Quisumbing, William Manahan, Protacio and Edwin Ao as inspired by the works of Cebuano visual artists Andrew Barba, Martino Abellana, Julian Jumalon and Wenceslao “Tito” Cuevas. The glamourous evening gown portion will feature the designs of Marichu Tan, Ren Manabat, Oj Hofer, Harley Ruedas, Jun Escario, Wendell Quisido, Ditas Rodriguez, Cary Santiago, Arcy Gayatin, Albert Arriba, Philip Tampus and Dino Lloren.


      The candidates underwent a series of seminars and trainings to gain further knowledge and awareness on the different sectors and industries of Cebu as well as workshops for personality enhancement. These included the Toastmasters communication workshops, dialogues with Mayor Michael Rama, Leadership Forum with Congressman Tomas Osmeña, Lecture on Business Prospects with Jay Aldeguer, Business and Etiquette seminar with Bruce Winton, Workshop on Cebu History Culture & Heritage by Commissioner Tetta Baad, Talk on the Concept of Tourism in Cebu by DOT VII and Cebu’s Export Industries by DTI and Media Training by Mr. Rico Lucena among others. They took Cebu City’s official cultural and heritage tour, Pasiyo sa Kabilin, visited the mountain barangays via the city’s Adventure Cebu program and attended events such as the Pasko sa Sugbo launching, caroling for the Cebu City Streetchildren's Christmas Party and the Balik Cebu program.

      Tickets to the Coronation Night are now available at the online voting booths, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino and the Cebu City Tourism Office at the 2nd floor of the Rizal Museum and Public Library in Osmeña Boulevard and are priced at P500, P1,000, P1,500 and P2,500.
