With sold-out albums out in the market, the voice that could soothe the hardest of souls, rumors of being a Muslim princess, and a pretty face, indeed, one could never forget a Sitti Navarro. We were honored with her presence over a meal at the Manuel's Restaurant of Parklane Hotel months ago. What we thought was an experience of the usual gap between the artist and fan turned out to be a very pleasing and fun conversation that would be the basis of a strong foundation of friendship between Sitti and the staff of iSTORYA.NET.
Dubbed as the Queen of Bossa Nova, the title does not only describe her music genre but her personality as well-- that regal feel that only the bossa nova will bring-- relaxed, comfortable, elegant, stylish, laid-back and fun.

Born Sitti Katrina Navarro on November 1984, Sitti, as most of her fans and friends know her, have risen up to fame because of her unique voice and bringing in to the local industry the bossa nova soul. With the help of iSTORYAns tweeting and texting in their questions, we got to know a little about the Bossa Nova Queen.
Early Start
When your parents and grandparents or other relatives insist for you to sing to a crowd, you sing! You'll never know this will be the start of your stardom, just like Sitti. She calls herself "masunuring bata"¯ (obedient child) because she would sing without hesitation when she's requested by her Lola for her mahjong-mates. It escalated to singing during Family Christmas parties, every birthday party or every time there is a guest. And like any other moms, her mom would let her sing Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. She also sang in school programs and was part of the village's church choir.
After high school, she took a job as a lounge singer. This was the jumpstart of her career. Focusing on pop during her lounge sets, she would sing a bit of bossa nova in between sets just as a breather. Eventually, her manager noticed her talent and told her to concentrate on Bossa Nova so that she can set herself apart from other singers. In 2004, she joined MTV Supahstar and won a recording contract which led to her first album, Cafe Bossa, released in 2006.
