After opening two new sales offices in Cebu last year, Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc. continues to expand in the city, marking a 25% growth in sales in the island province.
According to Deo Orpilla, Sun Life's Business Development Head, a key factor in this development is the warm reception towards the company's recruitment efforts. "We are delighted that our initiatives to reach out to Cebuanos are bearing fruit. More and more are getting on board and embracing the mission of helping other Cebuanos achieve financial security and enjoy a brighter life," he said. "In fact, we have already gone beyond our goals for our recruitment efforts for this year," achieving 105% of the target."

This development has also resulted to an increase in the number of lives insured. "There are still a few months to go before 2016 ends, but we have already achieved 93% of our targets," Orpilla said. "We are looking forward to finishing the year on a high note."
Sun Life Financial's Money for Life idea
In order to sustain the momentum, Sun Life has once again engaged world-renowned industrial designer Kenneth Cobonpue to be its brand ambassador in Cebu.
"Sun Life's partnership with Kenneth is now on its third year, and he has definitely been instrumental in helping us achieve our goal of boosting our presence in Cebu," Sun Life Chief Marketing Officer Mylene Lopa said. "We are especially happy that with his help, we have been able to touch base with more young Cebuanos who look up to him as a role model."
Kenneth Cobonpue is equally delighted with the continuing partnership with Sun Life, "I am confident that my future is secure because I have chosen the right financial partner and the number on life insurance company in the country. Now, it is not just me that has grown with Sun Life, but my employees as well," he said. "Financial security is something I rally among my employees. In fact, my HR team regularly works with Sun Life to hold financial planning sessions in our office."
In the coming days, Kenneth will be featured in a series of talks dubbed #LiveBrighter, Sun Life's business opportunity forum, where participants can expect to be inspired by the designer's journey to success, driven by his passion to create and his desire to touch lives.
"Those who aspire to find fulfilment the same way that Kenneth did in his career are invited to join us as financial advisors. It could be their key to a more fruitful and a more rewarding career," Orpilla said.
Meanwhile, Lopa reiterated that Sun Life is set to launch more initiatives in Cebu. "We remain committed to being the Cebuanos' partner in their journey to a brighter life," she said.
