• Ayala Center Cebu celebrates IEC Week with Cultural Performances


      The Queen City of the South has gone all out in preparation for the 51st International Eucharistic Congress (IEC). The IEC, which happens once every four years, is an international gathering of religious leaders and clergy aimed at promoting awareness on the central role of the Eucharist in the life and mission of the Catholic Church. From January 24 to 31, people from different parts of the world will convene in Cebu to attend the Congress.


      Ayala Center Cebu is one with the community in celebrating the IEC and will be a venue of devotion through Cebuano artistry. From January 20 to 30, Ayala Center Cebu has daily performances lined up at The Terraces featuring different Cebuano schools and organizations.

      Catch students from the different universities in Cebu perform cultural performances at the Terraces daily at 7:00 p.m: “Sacraments of Life” by University of Cebu on Wednesday, January 20; “Southern Faith and Devotion” by University of Southern Philippines Foundation on Thursday, January 21; “Memoirs of Faith” by the University of the Visayas on Friday, January 22; “The Mystical Body” on January 25 by the University of San Jose Recoletes; “Parables Today” on Tuesday, January 26 by the University of San Carlos; and the “Maytime Festival” on Wednesday, January 27 by the Cebu Normal University.

      Listen to the music of a dozen Cebuano choir groups in the “IEC Grand Chorale Festival” on Saturday, January 23 and join the IEC Bishops for a night of celebration on “Fabric of Faith” on the Thursday, January 28, both at 7:00 p.m.

      Catch performances from featured Cebuano artists in “Nagkalain-laing Dagway sa Pagpangaliyupo” (Different Images of Supplication) on Sunday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m.

      On Friday, January 29, watch the dance performance “Fiesta Folk Dances” by public school teachers from the south district of Cebu and “Hudyaka! Cebuano Dance Festival” by Local Government Unit festival dancers on Saturday, January 30.
