syempre 1.4..pero mahal, naka try nako gamit both..i guess 1.8 is more than enough..panagsa raman ko mo go down to 1.8-1.4, i usually use 2.0-2.8...

gamay ra ang difference sa 1.8 and 1.4. For me go ko sa 1.8 kay barato ra pero plastic lang kau tan awun ang lens.

isa ra man na sa reason ang aperture why people buy the 50mm 1.4, usually mao ni ila mabantayan sa wala pa naka gamit but dako kaayo ang difference if naka suway naka sa duha. Because its 1.4, you'll really find this useful when the need for light arises, for me dako kaayo og difference sa 1.4 and 1.8 na opening

One obvious reason why you would choose the 1.4 is because of the build, if imo kuptan ang 1.8, mura jud cyag duwaan compare sa 1.4, another would be focusing, take note 1.4 is USM and FTM, much faster ang pag focus kaysa 1.8...one thing i dont like sa 1.4 is that its a bit soft for my taste but very sharp when stopped down to 1.8

naa ra na nimo, if maka afford ka sa 1.4 of course buy what you can afford

1.8 is more than enough for me. 1.4 is way better in my opinion, but it's a burn in my wallet..

sa ako nabasahan, the typical (meaning the usual but may not apply to all) sweet spot or the sharpest aperture sa usa ka lens is 2-3 stops gikan sa iya widest opening. Meaning if naa ka lens that is f1.8, you will get a sharp result at around f2.5-f2.8, which normally means shooting at f1.8 will give you a soft result Which means that if naa ka canon 50mm f1.4, you can get a decent sharpness even at f1.8 which is soft na for the canon 50mm f1.8 .. mas na gyud siguro kung f1.2 imong lens. So based sa ako nabasahan, this is one reason nga advantageous ang canon 50mm f1.4 compared sa canon f1.8

but if pang portrait imo gusto ... go for the canon 85mm f1.8 ... proven and tested na sa daghan photographers heheheehe.

mas nindot jud ang 1.4 pero medyo mahal lang jud. pero gamay raman diff sa kuha, para nko of ra jud kaau ang 1.8........... unless if you have the money to burn then i suggest you go for the 1.4.
