You don't need to configure the switch, you don't need to change the firmware, just treat it like any other switch. If it's a public IP issue, then since you have a proxy na (i'm assuming this is a PC-server right?) then just run masquerading on that server... done!

Sayang man gud iyang L3 capable nga switch bai.. den mo function lng as L2.. maximize resources bha.. pwde rman cya dli na mag proxy if ma configure nya iya switch.. pwde man pud cya mka set ug acccess-list, VLAN.. pro depende njud na sa TS bai.. hehhehhee

i don't think you need to configure the switch in order for the users to connect to the internet. after assigning static local ip addresses to the users and proxy server, you just need to enter the proxy server details in the browsers of the users. after that users will be able to browse the net.

if a proxy server is not required, another alternative would be to reconfigure your modem to router mode and enable dhcp. after that you just have to connect everything to the switch including the modem, configure all the pc's to obtain ip address automatically, and that's it.
