This thread is misleading and quite unfair to Western Union. The charge is not $16 nor is it 15%.


My mom sent me $400 last week and only P27 pesos was deducted (equivalent to 0.15% or 0.0015)....

The cute guy/agent (hehehehehe) informed me that this is their new policy. Documentary stamps daw? But it's okay since P27 is just a very small amount.. No need to make a fuss about it, even PAYPAL charges more..

for u its okay since the money was only given to you.. Documentary Stamps is TAX collected from our government.. see, ang goberno nangita ug paagi para mka kwarta nasad... pati ang mga OFW gi hiritan..
they took taxes unsa man tawn in return sa mga OFW's??.. wala man gani nahimo ang goberno na naay mga gipang abuse the ofw's..

Hello pips, my experience sa w.u. b4 is that the sender will have 2 options. (1) USD ang ma-receive sa receiver or (2) PHP currency. ang rate sa option (1) wla bayaran ang sender but pag-abot diri, kung ano ang last exchange rate nila diri sa pinas yun ang basis nila sa conversion, but if option (2), the rate is $16 per $100 you send. wla na bawas pgdating sa pinas.
