Do Cebuanos prefer English than Tagalog? Is it because of Cebuano pride or are we just bad at Tagalog?

*chuckles* I don't think it's the pride at all. Sad to say, we're just terrible when it comes to the Tagalog language. Another reason is probably how most (mind you, not all since I know a few good ones) pronounce certain words i.e Sparkle (they read it as Sparkel) or Google that becomes Googel and no way, I'm not planning to read it that way.

On the side note, this was when my colleagues went to Manila for some kind of training:

Inside the jeepney:
Friend: Manong bayad po.
After getting the change, seeing that the amount is lacking.
Friend: Manong hindi po tumama.
Friend 2: Hoy, pataka lang ka dah. (Diverting the attention to the driver) Manong hindi po totoo ang sukli.
Me: *zip*

i prefer english...just went to Manila recently and when someone found out I am from Cebu, she then told me that she did notice that I had weird tagalog accent.

English is like a defence mechanism to us Cebuanos, maybe because 1) Weird ta mu tagalog which is natural raman gyud since dili man ta native speakers sa dialect 2) Mahadlok ta masayop on how we speak the words or 3) Naanad lang gyud ta mag iningles kay mas na impose ang English sa schools nato.

Mas hasol sa akung trabaho run kay mga Pinoy akung kauban mga tagalog nya the rest kay Locals(English). Isa ra kauban nko bisadak. Malibog ka usahay labi na lain lain imu kaistorya. Usahay bisag mga tagalog akong kaistorya, makagamit ko sa word nga UNYA...

Dili ko comfortable while speaking tagalog so I prefer English jud, feel nko bisdak ra kaayo akong tinagalog hehehe.

Sa katung maayo mo eninglis ganahan to mag eninglis pero kun lisod sad ang lawas, mas ganahan sila magtagalog.

Katong sa UAE pa ko work daghan ko kuyog mga tagalog, una lisod gyud pero kun mag cge naka tinagawg maanad ra man ka.

Pero kun naa kay kalagot daan sa tagalog, dili gyud ka ganahan magtinagawg.
