haha. sakto. ingon sila dili degrading, degrading man siya kay ang uniform sa helper d man parehas og status sa uniform sa let's say teacher or sales clerk or promodiser as SM. in fact, i don't think household work is considered as an economic output nga iapil og compute atong GDP. kay kung apil pa, dato na ta. hehe. besides, maong pa-uniform aron mailhan ang helper og ang amo means nga naa form of identity nga gi-establish, pero it's an identity perceived nga lower og rank. degradation gihapon. hehe. peace.

Ranks will always be everywhere. In every industry. In every household. Yes, i agree with the identification thing and it somehow manifests a lower rank or the lowest rank in your household, but that's just it. In every company, you don't get to wear the same uniform as that with your CEO or superior. There's gotta be a distinction among ranks so it's easier to identify responsibilities. I mean, more than anything else, more than what you let them wear, it all boils down to how you treat your helpers. So what if naka-uniform but they're treated nicely? Or wala lage naka-uniform pero harsh kaayu ang amo. My point is why are you all so concerned about the maid's uniform when it isnt really the MAIN problem or the MAIN issue for these helpers. It's how you treat them.

because they are maids. it is not a discrimination.. they wear uniforms para mahibaw-an sila nga they are maids.

wat if ang mga nurses dili magsul-ob ug uniform sa hospital? matawag sila ana ug pasyente. same rana sa maids ug dili sila mag uniform ma-a-an sila ug kapamilya ra nila. depende rasad na sa tag-iya sa balay.. kung datu ang tag iya, kasagaran ana nila naay uniform.

wearing a uniform is not a discrimination. kana sigurong bati ug batasan maonay i discriminate.. look at the show sa please be careful.. naa baya silay uniforms ilang maid? but they treat their maids like a family.

i find "sosyal" when maids wears uniform.

    peace ta ninyo.

i guess we're muddled with lack of definition of terms. wala man ko nagsulti that the uniform is the problem, or that the solution is that they should be treated nicely. i'm not even saying that helpers with uniforms are battered, victimized, or abused. what I'm saying is, the fact that distinction has to be drawn and clear-cut means there are identities that are established: ikaw ang helper, ako ang amo. And the uniform is like a marquee: never confuse one with the other (esp, earlier in the thread naay maid nga mas gwapa pa sa amo).

Okay lang kung CEO or doctor or nurse or salesclerk or promodiser ang distinction, kay these ranks are already stable identities. in fact people take courses to become top honcho of companies or be able to treat patients or provide healthcare, but no one pursues studies to become nannies. (haven't heard of Ph.D. in fabric whitening or masters in baby-sitting). sa ako na gikaingon, household chores are not counted as a distinct economic contribution to the state. i'm looking forward to a future when we recognize what our mothers and helpers' do at home is a positive economic unit, and be recognized that they too vastly help move the country forward. we're not anywhere near that future; ergo, the uniform is an identity that is lessening, especially if it is as contrasting between helpers and the homeowners that they serve.

they wear uniforms, para dili na sila mag problema unsay ilang e.sul.ob; just think of it, kong dad.on c.la ug party ug na'ay dress code; maka balibad ba c.la kay wala c.la i.sul.ob for the occasion

for me, uniforms are not degrading, unless it would make the maid uncomfortable, then she should quit
