Sun Life recently launched a campaign for wealth and health encouraging Filipinos to achieve the balance between wealth and health and in its campaign to promote health and wellness to Filipinos, Sun Life joined this year’s Cobra Ironman 70.3 Triathlon held last weekend in Cebu.
In a press conference held last August 1 at the Shangri-la Mactan Hotel and Resort, Sun Life Chief Marketing Officer Mylene Lopa said that the Ironman is the perfect venue for Sun Life to increase people’s awareness on the need to take care of their health as well as their health. In promoting physical wellness, Sun Life mounted several activities during the event, including Zumba sessions conducted by premier dance instructor Jill Ngo and the Sun Life Wellness Studio which had food stations offerings healthy smoothies, free massages and other relaxation activities. Apart from this, Sun Life also had their Wealth and Health booth for those who would like to know more about the company’s different financial health protection products through their financial advisors.
Sun Life also had their own tri teams led by the company’s top executives, including Sun Life CEO Riza Mantaring, who joined this year’s Ironman as part of Sun Life Tri Team in the mix relay. Also part of the Sun Life Tri Team is brand ambassador and celebrity Piolo Pascual.
Incidentally, this year’s medal was designed by fellow Sun Life brand ambassador and world-renowned industrial designer Kenneth Cobonpue. The medals, according to the Cebuano designer, were made of crushed bits of Mactan stone. The design was that of a hill with the three events (swim, bike, run) circling around it. It served as a reminder to all of us that we must overcome our own personal challenges and struggles to reach our own summit at the top.
“The values that we need to reach there: practice, discipline and heart indicate what Sun Life advocates. It is financial freedom that we use to reach that summit,” Cobonpue added.
Other team members in the Sun Life Tri Team were Toots Malapad, Gerald Custodia, Sun Life Chief Investments Officer Michael Enriquez, Jan Michael Chiu, Don Gutierrez, Larry Medenilla and Toniel Ty.
