Sun Life Celebrates Financial Independence Month

Sun Life celebrates Financial Independence Month to raise awareness among the Filipinos in financial independence.


The company kicked off their Cebu campaign with a press conference held last June 11 at the Laguna Garden Café. This year’s campaign, dubbed as #Fit2LiveFree, urges Filipinos to prioritize financial preparedness for their health needs and employ more appropriate ways of preparing financially for their other needs.


According to a survey conducted by Social Weather Station and commissioned by Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc., many people in the Visayas are least likely to make an expensive purchase but also least prepared for their health needs. The study shows that many Visayans are unprepared to handle costs related to grave illness, with 57% saying they are not at all prepared to fund expenses that an expensive medical treatment may require.


This year, Sun Life levels up their campaign with interactive and digital content using different social media platforms. Those who would like to determine their money mannerisms can take the Moneyrism Quiz on Facebook, while those who would like to share their fitness journey can join the conversation on Instagram using the hashtag #WellnessWednesday. Modular lessons are also offered online in the Brighter Life Institute for those wanting to go on an in-depth learning of personal finance.

Sun Life invites all the Cebuanos to attend the Wealth and Health Forum at the Radisson Blu Hotel on July 4 with Cebu’s top entrepreneurs sharing their stories about financial independence.
