I can’t even begin to describe how pleased I was in a way that I thought I would never be during a recent sojourn to Cebu’s premier resort, the Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa. From beginning ‘til end, I was just blown away by the sights, the sounds, not to mention the various tastes of the gastronomic delights that was part of the Barefoot Barbeque by the Beach that was held at the resort’s pristine beach front.
First off, the place was already a feast for the eyes as its elegance just could not be denied after the beachfront was transformed into a utopia which I and the rest of the invited guests called home for the unforgettable evening. Then, the music (with the violin and keyboard tickling everyone’s auditory senses) drew good vibes as it lingered to complement the event’s laid-back yet sophisticated ambience.
Finally, there was the best part – the feast-like buffet bistro beside the beach, where it is open to all in-house and non-in-house guests and is available from 7 o’clock in the evening to 10:30 at night. The premier appeal of the night, the food was so exquisitely prepared that adjectives such as “sumptuous” and “delectable” fail to do it justice. Priced at a value-packed ₱ 2,888.00, diners and guests get to have their fill of the grill!
I got to speak with Monica Tan, the communications executive of the resort and Elbert Maranian, one of the staff assigned in the kitchen and they introduce to such delights as:
· Marble potato on olive oil
· Grilled vegetables (with asparagus, red bell pepper and carrots)
· Pineapple papaya ola-ola (with green and red bell pepper and onions)
· Potato salad
· Thai chicken salad (with red bell pepper and asparagus)
I got even more excited when chef Matt Paglinawan presented to us the great savour on sticks!
