Siddharta The Musical

Siddhartha is a musical based on the life and work of Siddhartha Gautama, a historic figure in the old 600 B.C. India. This is a coming-of-age story of a young man, who is looking for the meaning of life and finding it silently tucked within himself.


The world-class, all-Cebuano theatrical production that has already toured abroad is again coming back to the stage with almost all-new songs, scenes, and visuals.


You get a ticket for a P500 donation to the Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Chu Un Temple, located at V. Rama Avenue, Cebu City. The proceeds will go to the Temple's charities, including the FGS Educational Fund, which aims to help the youth learn theater and performance arts.


"Siddharta, The Musical" which used to be a musical of 20 songs is now a musical of 40 to 50 songs and will run for two and a half hours with a 15 minute intermission break. With a total of 40 cast members, the musical intends to focus on the movements that will help tell the story of Siddharta and at the same time deliver the message of the story. The musical is based on the book "The Biography of Sakyamuni Buddha" by Venerable Master Hsing Yun.

"Siddharta, The Musical" is an educational and charitable venture that endeavors to share to everyone the origins and beliefs of Buddhism while at the same time cultivates upcoming theater talents, through this the people behind the musical desires to enliven Cebu's live theater scene. One of the features of the musical is that it is a production by Cebuanos for Cebuanos.
