The Tayud United Football Club aims to promote the women futsal in the community and gain a larger following of the sport that’s why they came up with the tournament to attract some of Cebu’s best female futsal teams and build a network of athletes. This fiesta cup also serves as a training ground for Cebu’s representatives to the Palarong Pambansa which will be held on May 3-9, 2015 in Tagum City, Davao del Norte. Coach Jinggoy Roa will be leading this year’s representing team.
The TUFC is composed of nineteen dynamic young ladies ages 12-15 years old with talents and skills to boot. They all come from Tayud, Consolacion and study in Tayud National High School. The team is under the guidance of its manager, Yul Birondo, who is also the Fiesta Cup organizer and its seasoned coach, Roy C. Tuñacao, who’s equally passionate about the sport.
All the proceeds of the fiesta cup will go to the Kythe Foundation, “a non-profit organization that seeks to help children who are hospitalized due to cancer and other chronic illnesses.” Its Cebu office is spearheaded by a certified Kythe Child Life Coordinator, Miss Shalom Bernales, who is working closely with the TUFC.
The Tayud United Football Club’s first ever all-female futsal cup was organized in cooperation with Epiphany Philanthropic and the Consolacion Football Club and also with the invaluable support of the Tayud Barangay officials through the leadership of Barangay Captain Felipe Lauron, the Tayud National High School, the Tayud Elementary School and the Talisay City Razkalz Football Club and their coaches: Ronan A. Belleza and Rhoshner B. Bollozos, who are both in one with the advocacy in promoting women futsal in the community and helping young kids to love the sport at such an early age.
The school teachers, barangay officials and the football/futsal club members will be putting up food booths for everyone in the event to generate funds for their school, barangay and football/futsal clubs.
Not everyday you see a sports event that not only instill young kids the love of the sport and the value of sportsmanship but also help the community to generate funds, as well. It’s no surprise that the organizers came up with the theme of this year’s fiesta cup: “Solusyon Dili Rason.” All the challenges they have faced didn’t stop them from realizing this dream because of their desire to provide solutions to the needs of the athletes and the community.
Definitely, the Tayud United Football Club’s first ever all-female futsal cup is a worthy cause one shouldn’t miss this weekend.
