1.) It’s that time of the year again when
families from all around the archipelago join forces as one! Whether you be spending your Christmas Eve with only your dearest loved ones or hosting a large family reunion, what makes Noche Buena undeniably delightful is the concept of
togetherness. A special night spent with the people closest to your heart, over a hearty feast is definitely something to look forward to!
2.) Unlike a birthday gathering or a wedding reception, the famous Noche Buena is the only
dinner party the rest of the Philippines celebrates with you. It is the only party you truly get to turn up the volume of your speakers even up to the wee hours of the morning and not have to worry about disturbing the rest of the community—because just like you and your family, everyone is set to have great time! From dancing in the comfort of your own front yard without having to worry about being judged, to
lighting fire crackers and loudly goofing around, this moment belongs to you! Don’t be afraid to
celebrate!
3.) The thrill of the
countdown is extraordinary! You can have a countdown on your birthday, or on the results of that licensure exam you just took, or even a countdown on the release date of your favorite movie, but no countdown will ever be as grand and as special as the countdown for Christmas. This is the moment everyone’s been preparing for!
4.)
Pictures. Pictures. Pictures. Let’s face it. This generation lives for pictures! From our Facebook newsfeeds to our Instagram accounts, jolly photos of friends and families getting together is a beautiful sight to behold. Add to that the list of dinner table photos you see abundant on social media—hashtag Christmas Eve, hashtag Christmas Dinner, hashtag Noche Buena. So don’t be afraid to validate those memories by clicking away on the capture button of your smartphones. Make memories and share them to the world. This happens only once in a year!
5.) And last but not the least, the
food!!! What good would a Noche Buena be without the
sumptuous feast? Sure, your mom or your tita, or your lola can cook every day, but for some indescribable reason, Noche Buenas are extremely exceptional in so many ways. There is something different about how that
fruit salad tastes like on the 24th of December. Mommy’s
mango float tastes surprisingly much, much better. Lola’s famous
pancit bihon is extra delectable. Ate’s
fresh lumpia is even more mouthwatering. Heck, even that one whole
lechon lying sexily on the table is smiling for the cameras. Noche Buenas are everything but your simple holiday tradition. So let out that tasty
Christmas ham, and munch on your
juicy humba. Be courageous enough to eat your heart out! You can, after all, just like every other year, make another fictional new year’s resolution about eating healthier when the next year comes. *wink, wink*
Merry Christmas!!!
