The logo represents GMCAC’s commitment to project the MCIA onto the world stage, carving its place as a destination delivering an experience like no other.
"Love is a four-letter island named Cebu"
GMCAC was formed after the concern for the expansion, improvement and operation of the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) terminal was given to the highest bidders, GMR Infrastructure Ltd. and Megawide Construction Corporation.
The brand launch held last October 2, 2014 at the MCIA MIP Lounge showcased the airport’s new brand that will highlight the cultural and aspirational influences of Cebuanos and the company’s mission of being relevant to Cebu, and to its domestic and international travelling community.
Manuel Louie Ferrer, President of GMCAC, welcomed everyone at the brand launch “to an airport that feels like a resort. It is not just a gateway but it is a destination where you are not just passengers, you are guests. This is how we envision the MCIA.” Their tagline, Ferrer adds, “Start here”, means the start of adventures, food trips, fun, friendships, lechon and many others as travellers arrive at the airport, their experience starts at the airport.
GMCAC will takeover airport operations on November 1, stakeholders and passengers can expect an improved service in the existing terminal, T1. Systems and personnel have been improved to guarantee a well-organized and engaging service for its ultimate clientele – its guests. A total overhaul of the T1 is planned after the completion of T2. Construction of T2, the second airport terminal, will begin in January 2015. Facilities will also be upgraded including an airport village with broad retail and entertainment options, six contact gates, triple-level in-line baggage screening, four baggage carousels and fourteen escalators. With the expanded infrastructure, there will be an increase of passenger carrying capacity from its present 4.5 million per year to 12.5 million per year.
GMCAC employees, from security and engineering personnel to terminal and office managers, take pride in wearing uniforms designed by Cebu's well-known designer, Cary Santiago.
GMCAC is united with airport stakeholders, including the MCIAA and DOTC, officials of national government agencies and local government units, Cebu’s various chambers of commerce, the travel and tourism sector, concessionaires, and the creative sector in keeping Cebu’s best interests at heart in the evolution of an improved Mactan Cebu International Airport.
