MAC's Spring/summer 2014 trend is all about health, freshness and femininity which have never been so synonymous with modern makeup as they are this season. According to Lyne Desnoyers, this season is about tweaking and revealing beauty, not reinventing it. A revitalized vision of beauty is a shift towards something more subtle and alive where the idea of something quite effortless and un-labored has evolved into a unanimous point of view, one that positively and authentically enhances the individual.
MAC gives us the
Day-Glow, CC-Thru Color, Light FX, and the New Eye-Deal for this season.
Day-Glow is raw, rugged and healthy. It is more about peach and pink cream blushes wherein "whatever you do this season, the complexion has to be summery, gorgeous and glowing" says Tom Pecheux.
CC-Thru Color makes a sensitive statement, acting as a beautification strategy that projects the features and brightens the face. The relevant way to wear color now is to time in to the intrinsic effect that cold and warm shades have upon the complexion. Artists are redefining and widening the conversation of what a "Natural" makeup can be, and pushing the boundary on colors that are strong yet have an in at affinity with the skin's tone. It is all about "playing with the tones that exist naturally on and in the skin," says Lucia Pieroni.
Light FX expands on the moonlit glow, the new approach to light-reflecting makeup injects an optimistic life force into whites and lights. With glassy and opalescent clarity, these new light effects have an energetic, humid sportiness that makes them part of the "healthy story". "Using emotional glazes of whites and lights on the high points gives the cheeks an immediate contour, without adding any color", adds Alex Box. While atom Pecheux enthuses that white brings such freshness and brings out the features on a slightly deeper skin which is beatiful and pure.
The New Eye-Deal, the detail on eyebrows and the eyes have changed and has shifted back to the more feminine aspect of the eye. Artists are reconsidering liner, lashes and kohl as accents in a manner that doesn't feel indebted to the past. Certain details are timeless and beyond trend.
M·A·C Cosmetics held a Technique Consumer Workshop with celebrity makeup artist Jigs Mayuga last Saturday, April 26 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Sampaguita room of the Cebu City Marriott Hotel.
