Runnilla Eco Challenge is an off-road / trail running event in the Municipality of Minglanilla. The signature of the event is that the route will mostly pass through the mountain barangays, with the highest elevation at 634+ meters. It will give the participants a very scenic view throughout the race.
This race is conceptualized by Jake Liarta (Race Director), a mountaineer and a trail runner who has raced here and abroad. The route of Runnilla is one of his training grounds, in which he saw the great potential for Minglanilla, as well as the whole Cebu province, to become more known as an eco-adventure destination. At the same time, it’s also a good way to re-introduce people to the great nature outdoors.
With the all-out support of the Minglanilla LGU, and of Cebu Trail Runners, Runnilla Eco Challenge has came to reality. The event will be part of the Minglanilla’s Kabanhawan Festival, and will be an annual event.
Part of the proceeds of this race will go to the Calbasa-an Elementary School to help them acquire an electric generator. Sitio Calbasa-an is where the highest peak of Runnilla Eco Challenge is located, and where you can meet some of the nicest people in Cebu who are also very supportive of the event.
