With the grand sponsored floats, celebrities waving and throwing off souvenirs, and the crowd going ga-ga, the essence of Sinulog is somehow brushed off to a corner to make way for modern entertainment and a free pass of getting hyped up, or whatever it is that would hype you up.
May the essence of Sinulog always live in the heart of every Cebuano-- the grand Mardi Gras, all the dancing and the festivities, and the procession and everything else is all for the praise and glory of our Patron, Sto. Nino. May we be reminded that when Sinulog started years ago, all or most were gathered in prayer and in faith and in gratitude of the blessings they have received through Sto. Nino.
