Here’s another chapter all throughout. Cebuanos love challenge and when you say food eating challenge, well then, bring it on! Challenge accepted, Barney Stinson would say. Buddies’ tagline—Home of the Ultimate Burger Challenge, has indeed spread to the challenged Cebuanos like wildfire. So, here goes:
The Ultimate Burger Challenge: a pound of burger with 4 quarter pounder patties and 2 servings of fries plus a glass of water. You have to finish the challenge in 5minutes. After 5minutes, the contender should have stopped chewing and there should be nothing left on the plate.
Prizes: The whole challenge meal will be for FREE (if you lose, you pay P300.00 for the meal); Ultimate Shirt, your picture at the Wall of Fame, and of course, the prestige, honor and pride to conquer the challenge.
The Wall of Fame. About a month ago when we first dined in Buddies, these were the winners. Now, the board is about to be filled up with successful challengers.
Sounds easy? Not!
We did not try the challenge. Looking at the picture, my stomach coiled to surrender, plus—the Mexican fix was enough to last me through dinner. I did come back with a challenger, though—one of my barkada who was into burgers, challenges and eating. Perfect mix, I should say! So, we were pretty confident to get that shirt and the prestige.
However, the burger and fries were fresh off the grill—a fact that we normally appreciate; but during challenges, this is an additional feat. My friend surrendered in 2minutes and told the waiter he will savor his meal instead. Loser? Not that much. We ended up staying for at least an hour talking about random stuff—2 buddies in Buddies, forgetting about the pang of the loss but enjoying the meal instead.
Summary: When your wallet and your pocket are uncooperative on the usual meals and you just wanna hang out and enjoy comfort food, go to Buddies. If your appetite always craves for good food and reasonable prices, then Buddies is definitely your best friend.
