Celebration for “Sun Country” Cebu
According to Andrew L. Santos, PLDT and Smart FVP for Consumer Marketing, the event’s name isn’t merely lip service. Rather, it’s the firm’s way of conveying its commitment to Cebuanos.
“Cebu has long been known as a ‘Sun Country’ and we hope to keep this moniker more so now that we’ve boosted our LTE coverage across the island,” he said.
“Much like how ‘Para Nimo, Cebu’ puts the spotlight on Cebu’s homegrown artists, Sun’s improved connectivity now enables Cebuanos to instantly connect, share, and showcase the best it has to offer to the rest of the world,” shared Carlo S. Endaya, VP and Head of Prepaid Marketing at Smart.

Present at the launch was Cebuano actor and Sun endorser, MatteoGuidicelli, who said, “Sun’s stronger LTE connectivity is great news for all my fellow Cebuanos, who can now enjoy a much better digital experience through Sun’s best-value promos – whether it’s for posting on social media, making clear video calls, streaming music and videos, or playing mobile games.”
“All you have to do is upgrade and switch to a Sun LTE SIM, and place it in the first slot of your LTE-capable phone to enjoy Sun’s improved connectivity in Cebu,” he added..

Sun’s newest and fastest LTE network offers as much as six times faster mobile Internet speed versus 3G.
Cebuanos can experience Sun LTE for as low as Php20 with the new Sulit Surf Plus 20, which comes with 300MB, unlimited text to all networks, and unlimited calls to Sun, Smart, and TNT valid for two days. Just dial *121# to avail of Sulit Surf Plus 20.
Cebuanos can also easily upgrade to LTE with the value-packed Sun Non-Stop LTE Postpaid Plans, which come with non-stop Facebook, Messenger & Google Search; calls and texts to Sun; free open access data; and an LTE-ready smartphone for as low as Php599 per month.
As of October, more than 80% of Sun cell sites across Cebu have LTE. In addition to network upgrades in Metro Cebu, LTE is also available in the rest of Cebu province, including key tourism areas like Bogo City, Carmen, Daanbantayan, Medellin, Moalboal, Oslob, and Toledo City.
Expanded LTE capacity is also available in areas in Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, Minglanilla and Talisay, while the service has also been rolled out in Badian, Balamban, Barili, Catmon, Madridejos, Sibonga, and Tabuelan. (Jonas Panerio)
