The resort launched its collaboration with Garmin as Shangri-La Mactan Stories. “We are proud to be the first fully Garmin-enabled resort in the world,” said General Manager René Egle. Guests can use Garmin VIRB cameras free of charge within the resort. Garmin VIRB is the brand’s range of ultra high-definition 4k action cameras. Their products also allow quick social sharing. Users can even live stream on YouTube or Facebook. Guests can use Garmin cameras at the beach counter. Steel camera mounts are available in over 30 different locations in the resort. The mounts were strategically installed to capture the best views. The camera is also waterproof, so guests can film their water sports experiences.
Shangri-la Mactan is the first fully Garmin enabled resort in the world
Garmin revealed its latest watch collection during the launch last month. The brand presented five new watches. These watches are the Fenix 5 Plus, Garmin Descent, vivoactive 3 Music, vivomove HR, and Approach S60.
Guests can create a video of their favorite moments after filming. The VIRB Edit desktop software is accessible at the resort’s Entertainment Zone. The program is easy to use. Guests can edit, trim videos, add music and transitions, and add data overlays. Resort staff is always present to assist first-time users.
Shangri-La Mactan is also launching a year-round competition for the best content. The Shangri-La Mactan Stories Awards will choose three winners. There are three categories: Inspirational, Action, and Out of the Box. Guests have to upload their videos online with the resort’s geotag and hashtag #ShangriLaMactanxGarmin. Winners get to stay at Shangri-La properties in Tokyo, Paris or Maldives. Roundtrip airfare, a luxe island holiday at the resort, and Garmin cameras are also prizes.
