Marco Polo Plaza Cebu’s flagship restaurant, Cafe Marco was bursting with shades of green to honor the life of one of the world’s most popular saints. As a quick backgrounder, Saint Patrick (also known as “Apostle of Ireland”) is a British missionary who spent over 40 years of his life spreading Christianity throughout Ireland. He performed miracles and documented his love for God through his writings.
After years of living in poverty and going to places to spread the gospel, Saint Patrick died on March 17, 461AD. Irish communities celebrate his life and works by staging parades, parties, and by wearing green-colored garbs to commemorate the day.
To fete the saint’s purposeful life, Cafe Marco introduced Cebuanos to a feast of traditional Irish dishes on top of its international lunch and dinner buffet such as Pecan Salad, Irish Colcannon Mac and Cheese, Irish Guinness Beef Stew, Irish Whisky Roasted Salmon, Corned Beef and Cabbage In Dark Beer, and delights like Irish Beer, Green Velvet Cupcakes, Reuben Bread, Buttermilk Russet with Almond Biscuit to name a few.
A scrumptious spread of food, fun and entertainment were also available for guests to indulge in at El Viento Restaurant and Pool Bar. (Dominic Yasay)
