• Transgenders Allowed to Join Miss Universe Pageant

Yahoo! News article caught our attention earlier today about a rule change in the Miss Universe beauty pageants next year to allow transgender women in participating said pageant.

Wiki defines Transgender a catchall term for persons whose body is physically one single s*x but the gender they have (the mind) may not match the physical s*x or the mind may be in-between sexes {Have some aspects of both feminine and male roles.} Some transgender persons go on to have surgery to correct the difference between mind and body, but others are able to go without changes and either dress or act in the socially assigned role differently from the body's s*x. Those who are preparing for surgery are called transsexuals, those who have had the surgery, women or men.

The objective of the Miss Universe Pageant organizers for the rule change was to promote equality among transgenders and women.

The advocacy was led by Vancouver resident, Talackova, who underwent genital change 4 years ago after being born male. His/her case is being reviewed in the Miss Universe Organization, after he/she was disqualified from competing in the Miss Universe Canada contest next month.

Talackova's Canadian passport, identifying him/her as F (female).

What makes a woman, then? Is it the genitalia? Passion, feeling? Identification? Who sets the rules? With Philippines also dubbed as the "gay capital of the world", what are the implications of this news? What do you think of the Miss Universe's new ruling? What are your thoughts on this, dear iSTORYAns? Let's talk (Mag iSTORYA ta!)

I'm not against their decision to include the transgenders in Miss Universe. After all unsa man sad akong mabuhat if mo against ko sa ilang rules. It's like Philippines vs. the rest of the world. Morality is different from nation to nation. I agree and I also respect their decision.

Usa pa sad di ko tigtanawan og miss universe. kanang tinuod akong tanawn.

I will not discriminate transgenders but somehow there should be a separate competition for them...like other comments, i am pretty sure bisan ug magtuwad tuwad pa ang transgenders di jud cya ka tubag sa question "What is the essence of being a woman?"...my best answer for this, first and foremost, the woman is capable of bringing another life in this world and nobody else...unya kaya ni transgender ang pinaka dakong task sa usa ka babaye...i am a woman and a mother of four kids, di lalim manganak...all of a sudden e mix ang mga trans...naluko na si Donald Trump...losing naman siguro ni iyang pageant....What makes Miss Botswana win the crown during the final interview over pregnancy issues in Miss Universe contestants...her answer..."Let's enjoy our femininity" ...unya makaya ning tubagon nga klase sa question sa mga transgenders?Unsaon nila pag enjoy ang femininity nga di man na muburot ilang tiyan?Much more they are not in the position to give advises....unya muingon nasad ni transgenders nga ayaw ilabot nang klaseha sa questions kay unfair para nila...actually there are a lot of questions that only naturally born female can answer....SO BETTER MR TRUMP CREATE A NEW PAGEANT FOR THE TRASGENDERS...MALINGAW PA SIGURO TA UG TAN.AW LIKE MISS GAY PAGEANTS..........OKAYYYYYYYYYY.?

        @cooljux:

"First off, your vagina or the lack thereof does not make you a woman, it is but your capacity to understand and embrace femininity."

Why do you make the world so complicated, there are only 2 genders in the whole universe, female and male, and the lack of vagina makes you the latter. What is so difficult about that? Listen to yourself, you sound like the mere common gay people who always try to insist it's "okay and normal" to be gay. It is acceptable to be gay and to feel like a woman even when you are biologically not, but to joining an exclusive pageant for the Girls, is unacceptable. Women will never ever, insist in joining your pageants for the alternatives I bet.

I believe that we should stick to the basic or from where we had started!
Let's do accept the fact that everything we have is a Gift from God.
For Ms. Universe Pageant, how about modifying one of its rule like "MUST BE A NATURAL BORN WOMEN" and the like, rather than "ACCEPTING TRANSGENDER WOMEN". I have nothing against transgender women or gays...I'm just concern on what will women really feel if this will be officially allowed all throughout the years.

women can give birth. transgender will never experience giving birth and will never experience the real essence of being a woman.

Wahahaha! Miss universe has become a circus.
I'm not surprised by the answer from the cebu gay community saying its perfectly ok and you go girl! There's just so many gays here. The comments from people in other visayan provinces like bohol, bacolod, etc, is that cebu has so many gay guys and Cebu is the Thailand of the Philippines as mentioned in the viral video.
20 Reasons I Dislike the Philippines - he called them ladyboys like thailand. Lol!

Sorry, there's no discrimination against gays in this pageant. Gays are funny comedians ang good working people but unless you can transfer your soul to a womans body and give life to another person, there's no way a male would be female.

kani oh! super'agree ko ani. dapat "MUST BE A NATURAL BORN WOMEN" nga rule. after all, every contest has rules man, so if ma'include na siya nga rule, tinuod nga babay rajud ang makajoin.you know what, people are accepting the 3rd *** naman pero to insist of joining which is exclusively for girls sa karaan pang panahon, grabi rapud.

anyway, regarding this, why can't they make a Miss Transgender Universe Pageant and just separate the Miss Universe Pageant?
u have a point. #1, kamuka nya si pia #2, yeah, why can't they just separate the two?? i dont know, im not judging or anything but if i were to join ms universe,, i think i'd feel a little offended.
