• Rare Training Opportunity for CNC Machinists

There is no denying that due to steadfast advancements and innovations in modern technology, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinists is a new boom in the job market. In the Philippines, only few were trained and most of these professionals left the country for good. Brain drain has become a bigger problem in the metals and engineering industry.

In order to address this negative impact to the industry, the Metals Industry and Research Development Center (MIRDC) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is implementing a project entitled, “Human Resource Intervention for Sustainable Growth and Competitiveness of the M & E Sector: Development and Implementation of Appropriate Training Curriculum Design for CNC Machine Tool Programming and Operations”.

The project is targeting 800 participants nationwide.

To qualify, the participant must be either a VocTech graduate (Mechanical Technology or related course or college level (at least second year level). Preferably, must have basic knowledge and skills in conventional machining (turning or milling) and basic computer operation.

The 52-day training program is segmented into three parts: Part 1 - Basic and Common Competencies; Part 2 - Core Competency; and Part 3 - Industry Immersion.

For unemployed participants, the training is provided for free, plus a daily allowance of Php 300.00 will be given to help defray their cost of living while attending the training. As for employed participants, a minimal training fee of Php 10,000.00 will be charged.

Interested participants are required to submit the following to the DOST 7 Regional Office: (1) Personal Information Sheet (Forms available at the DOST 7 office/website); (2) Transcript of Records; (3) Diploma/Certification; (4) Barangay Clearance; (5) Community Tax Certificate; (6) Physically Fit (Medical Certificate required) and (7) Recent Photo (Passport Size). Deadline of submission of applications is on November 13, Wednesday.

Participants need to sign a 3-year Service Contract in the Philippines after the training.

For further information, please contact Mr. Elvie Cenita at Tel. Nos. (032) 254-7051 / 254-7049; email at elviecenita@yahoo.com or visit the DOST 7 website at http://ro7.dost.gov.ph/.

Comment langko ba... Sa mga nang reklamo nga mahal, ka barato ra aning 10k, unya 52 days training pa... plus rare training / opportunity pa jud ning CNC Machines. Pag sure mo oi.

Nindot ni para sa mga interested mag specialize ug machine shops. Up ko ani. Kung wala moy kwarta, pang huwam or pag loan.

The concept of Barato (cheap) and Mahal (expensive) will always be debatable but it will be resolved only through personal preference.

In the case of consumer products, let me state an example on shampoo. There are expensive ones and then there are cheap ones. It boils down again to preference-- how do you take care of your hair? Does it matter if you invest on expensive shampoo? Some may say yes, some may say no. Again, a matter of preference.

This kind of training will cost as much as $4,000 (roughly more than P150,000 depending on the exchange rate) for 50hours. (Adult Vocational Training - Computer Numerical Control - CNC) To get quality training worth this much for the price of P10,000 is like buying expensive shampoo for the cost of a cheap one. This is where I agree with @Scott Bernard, that indeed, this is a very rare opportunity for those who are in need of it and that, while P10k is not easy money to most of us, opportunities such as this for machinists, is a good investment, IMHO.

OT: Kung naka butang sa imong birth certificate kay female, pwede ra unta brod. hehehehe! jokes.

OnT: Maka afford man gani nang uban mo training ug one month sa Rodech (35k), Metrology.x (2 weeks, 30k), ug kanang mga welding schools nga more than 40k pod ang bayad. Not to mention ang 5 days safety training sa DOLE worth 5k.

Nindot ni nga investment... mo recommend ko ani para sa mga interested mag specialize or mag venture sa machine shop.
