    Kamo jud peeps, tihik jud kaayo mo mohatag ug tubag.

    @Oakboy bai,

    I don't know you so forgive me if I'll treat you like a total idiot to networking. I'll try to tackle every possible situation. Pangutana lang kung dunay unclear para nimo.

    Pre-requisites:

    - You must have an ISP of course. That's PLDT DSL in your case.
    - Cat5 straight-through cables.
    - You must have a modem, either provided by your ISP or pinalit nimo.
    - Each computer must have a working ethernet card (more known to pinoys as LAN card). When I say working, kinahanglan maka-online tanan computers when connected directly to the modem.
    - Or wireless ethernet card (WLAN card) kung gusto kag wireless connection. You should have indicated kung desktop or laptop imu gamit. Anyway kung desktop using wireless, you'll have the option to purchase either a usb or a pci WLAN card. Any will do. Naa ra na nimo. If you tend to use the usb ports more often, go get a pci wireless card para di mapakli. Lisod na. If you have a laptop, check kung duna kay built-in wireless card. Usually, laptops are labelled with "Centrino" if they have. Kung wa gani, you can purchase a card bus or a usb WLAN card. Mas versatile ang usb WLAN card kay pwede sa laptop ug desktop. You just need to have the drivers installed on both machines. So done with the ethernet cards, adto na sad ta sa device nga maoy mo-share sa imu internet connection - the router. Kuyaw kaayo ang introduction... hehehe... ..."the Router"
    - Purchase a 4-port "DSL" router (D-link or Linksys will do). 4-port kay you have 3 computers man. So naa pka usa ka free port, whatsoever you'll use that port for. Most routers karon have 4 LAN ports man sad. Most 4-port router have more than 5 ports. 5 ra gyud ang basic. Ngano 5 nga ni-ingon man ko 4-port router. Actually ang 4-ports are the number of LAN ports corresponding to the hosts (computer, IP/network printer, surveillance cam, and etc... hahaaay, kalisod i-explain. Just hope you know something about networking.) Ang 5th port is for your DSL/Cable connection. You may also have a usb port on the router pero it's optional and not present on all brands. I'm also stressing out "DSL" kay there are some nga purely for DSL connection. Naa pud uban nga for "Cable" connection ra jud. Mao na dapat nimo bantayan. If you can get a Cable/DSL router, mas maayo. In case you decide to change ISP, magamit japun nimo imu router. There are two types of router - wired and wireless. Should you opt for wireless connection, get a "Wireless 4-port Cable/DSL Router". Note that I've added the word "wireless".
    - Now that you have everything that you need, it's time to connect everything.

    - I just hope I can post a diagram here. Pahabol na lang nko if I find one later on. So connection...

    From your ISP (PLDT DSL), you will have a cable that connects directly to your modem. From your modem, you will have a cable that connects to a port on the router either labelled as "Cable/DSL" or "Internet". Basta bai, you'll know that it's the correct port cause it's separated from the other 4 ports. It may also have a different color. Best way of checking is to read the user's manual. Now that we have established a connection from your ISP to your modem then to your router, it's now time to connect the computers to the router. Remember the ethernet (LAN) cards on your computer, insert one of the Cat5 cables to the ethernet card on your computer and connect the other end to one of the 4 LAN ports (usually numbered) on the router. You'll have to do the same to the rest of the computers... but before you do that, you still have to configure the router. Configuration is different from brand to brand. Others may require you to run a cd provided with the package. Best thing to do is to read the user's manual. It should contain the setup configuration how-to. If you cannot follow the manual, call tech support.
    - Setup with DSL may require you your username and password, which will be provided by your ISP upon subscription. If your ISP provides you with a static ip address, it may require a special setup. I'm not quite familiar with PLDT DSL.
    - Assuming setup is done and you are able to go online using one computer that is wired to the router, it would now be safe to connect the rest of the computers. Just make sure they are set to obtain an ip address automatically. If you have a Mac computer, search the forums. I have posted a step-by-step configuration for Mac on one of the forums. Naa gihapon sa Networking and Internet. Check if you can go online on all computers. If yes, dagkot sa Sto Rosario bai, pasalamat sa ginoo... you never have to hire a technician. Kung duna ka wireless computer... hmmm... i-google na lang bay kung saun pag-connect wirelessly. Total, maka-online na btaw ka... hehehe Bitaw, if you have a wireless computer, make sure that you have installed the drivers properly for the wireless card just as you have installed it for the LAN cards. No bangs (exclamation point or question mark) in device manager. Avoid using WinME or Win98 if you plan to install a wireless card. It's either it's hard to make it work or it doesn't work at all. BTW, if you have a Mac computer, make sure that it is Mac compatible before purchasing the ethernet card (wired or wireless).

    Configuring to connect to the internet wirelessly (assuming installation of WLAN card was successful):

    For Windows (XP/2000)
    - Click Start
    - Go to Settings
    - Go to Control Panel
    - Choose Network connections / Network and Internet Connections
    - Right click Wireless Network Connection
    - Choose View Available Wireless Networks
    - Highlight the name of your Wireless Network
    - Click Connect ...wait!
    - And when it says Connected, check if you can go online.
    - If you're quite lucky my friend, you should be going online. If not, further troubleshooting may be needed.

    For MAC OS X and up
    - Click on the Apple icon.
    - Go to System Preferences
    - Choose Airport Setup Assistant
    - Just follow the prompts... you should be going online afterwards.
    or
    - Click on the Airport icon on the upper right of your screen.
    - Then follow the prompts.

    If you have Mac and you are using an external wireless card (usb or cardbus), you will have to use the utility that will come out on your screen after installation of the card. Connect to your wireless network using the utility.

    Securing your wireless network... who needs the G*damn security when noone else in the neighnorhood has a wireless computer. hehehe... Bitaw bai, read the user's manual for the router.

    whewwwww.... that was the longest post that I have ever made in my entire life.

    Have I missed anything? ...message me. I'd be more than happy to add more. hehehe...

    @xyberblue bai,

    Assuming you're using a router, mapaduha, tulo or upat ka computer, it would still be the same procedure. Kung DSL imu connection, any computer can be use to set up the whole configuration . But if you have Cable connection, that's a different story. Usually, you'll need to clone the MAC address to get it working.

    @minimouse bai,

    tuk-an ko ato da... hehehe Lay down your cards aron imu ipagawas ang alas... hehehe kahibalo ko anang style-la titz... hehehe Bitaw bai, laay man gud sa trabaho. Lately mao ra ni ako kalingawan, ang pagposting2x diri sa istorya. dah... na-ahat nuon ug post ug taas kaayo. hehehe...
