bill gates is just another geek who spent waaay to many hrs on his computer to come up w/ the biggest name in the computer world and most of you reading these boards are probly running on windows.

morrissey on the other hand is just like rizal to the friars he is not afraid of the royal family....

yes and no.

i think the fact that bowie was more public than lou reed made him cut the list. lou reed is only famous among artists and musicians "who know" him and his works. as for the rolling stones, they were your typical rockstars like U2 or michael jackson, as opposed to bowie and moz. bowie had a movement during his stardust era, same goes w/ moz and up to know moz fanatics around the globe are quite extra ordinary than the regular concerts.... i mean, where can you find straight men going up on stage and giving him a kiss? he is the real austin powers, international man of mystery.

mind you, brian eno made the cut and hes not o so famous but to qoute brian eno "the velvet underground is considered the most influencial band of all time, although their records only sold a few but most of the records sold inspired the owners to start a band". to name 2 bands born because of VU are JAMC and sonic youth and because of JAMC drocksters were born teeeheee....

OPRAH is not just an ordinary rags to riches person you've got to be a GENIUS to reach her status, Do you think an ordinary person can replace OPRAH? i don't think so.

MADONNA is a genius even before she became an artist, her grades in college were straight C's ( Flat 1.0 ) and her longevity in the limelight shows her being a genius. Guess What! Meryl Streep is in.

And you've got to be kidding when you said that Dylan is an ordinary artist. well, read lyrics of his songs. he's the one who broke the rules of music. he's the shakespeare of music. he's the greatest lyricist of all time and now you said he's ordinary.
