It's been an OK year for movies this 2005.. With some notable movies.. and breakthrough acting by new actors and actresses.. But What do you think of the Oscar nominations this year..?

For me, some nominations are quite shocking and unbelievable.. I haven't really seen all films, Brokeback Mountain and Munich is really good... I wished Memoirs made it to the Best Picture Nominations..

And also, in achievement in original score.. memoirs and munich deserved to be there... but whre's narnia..? harry potter..? Kingdom of Heaven..? The nominations for the score have been a bit of ac controversy..

Who should have made it on the list..? And who shouldn't have..?

i'm surprised that memoirs of a geisha only got lukewarm attention. it's a good movie. probably because it had some controversy last year and in effect it was banned for showing in china. brokeback mountain is great and i'm glad they got 8 nominations.

as for narnia, i think it was way too boring for the judges. i enjoyed the film actually but it wasn't something that i would watch over and over again. once is enough.

i'm a big fan of Philip Seymour Hoffman and i hope he wins his first Best Actor Oscar.

Narnia wasn't actually Oscar material, but many had hoped it would snag the award for best original score which for me was the best musical score for 2005.. yet it wasn't even nominated..

Judi Dench has been nominated again for the nth time.. Reese Witherspoon's nomination has been surprising since many critics lambasted her performance while some other praised her.. Mat Dillon's performance wasn't really interesting but we don't know the tastes of the academy.. and many critics actually recommended his performance for Crash..

It seems like lots of new names on the list this year.. I'm actually betting on Brokeback mountain to win the best picture..

i hope felicity hoffman wins. i just found out about transamerica which i think is a good film. oh well, i guess i'm quite biased when it comes to films with gay characters. in this movie, hoffman plays the role of a transexual...or more sensitively, she's a pre-opt transvestite in the movie. it's an independent movie by the way.

Sir Russell Crowe should have been nominated for Best Actor in Cinderella Man. The guy may be a total dick in real life but his work has always been exceptional.

I was expecting "Cinderella Man" to be nominated for Best Picture and Marshall (Memoirs of a Geisha) for Best Director..

i would like "Brokeback Mountain" and Ang Lee to take home the Best Picture and Best Director, respectively..though i haven't seen yet any of the movies nominated for this coming Oscars, i'd like Reese Witherspoon to win the Best Actress category..i heard she did actually sing in the movie..She is a good actress as i've seen in her past movies..as for Felicity Huffman, i only saw her acting prowess through "Desperate Housewives"..Judi Dench, mmm she already had an Oscar for best Supporting Actress as Queen Elizabeth in "Shakespeare in Love", which by the way, her appearance in the movie (including the dialogue) was quite short..

as for Best Actor, i think P.S. Hoffman for "Capote" is a strong contender...


We'll just have to wait and see..
