QoS [divide and conquer d bandwidth]

first and formost..., bati and missleading akong title.., can't think of a better thread title for this.

here..., will try to discuss about QoS's tips and tricks, questions, ideas and anything in relation to QoS.

so lets try to start this...

In my situation, I've been using pfSense before and now I use Sophos (will try Kerio if have the time and hardware). pfSense if very light and powerful (if you know how) but its just too darn difficult to configure. Sophos on the other hand is multitude times easier to configure.

My ultimate goal is to have every device have a fair share of our internet connection at home (globe 5mbps). I have posted a pfSense and Sophos threads here and I am able to create/generate QoS that is targeted mainly for Internet Games.

what I did to manage QoS is to identify the proper 'ports' for specific games and applications and it seem to be working most of the time..., pero..., mura dili pako kontento sa iya configurations ani.


for all people reading this, if you have experience configuring QoS for pfSense, Sophos, Kerio, Tomato, etc..., share your ideas and such. gi-unsa ninyo pag-prevent sa dreaded streaming and downloading and making online games have reasonable ping rates?

i got 3 devices connected sa amung 'upto2mbps' internet. ganahan unta ko tungaon, equally ang speed.
mao ni siya na program gamiton? pfSense or sophos?

sa pfSense or Sophos, sayon ra ang equal division of bandwidth.

if d router provides QoS..., then fine..., as long as you know how to configure it and it does work ^_^
depends ra sa imo tastes and needs..., most routers only provide(s) a small subset
