Question on dead zotac gt640

Mangutana lang ko unsa rason sa short lived life aning zotac gt640 sa ako amigo.

igo rani nalapas 1 year then na tigok na daun. Ni kalit lang ka pawng ang display then dili na mu on. pag remove sa vc na ok na siya. upon close inspection sa vc naa siyay murag taya2. and some white smear stuff traces pero uga ra jud siya. traces nalang naa. see photo below for reference encircled in red.

unsay cause ani niya? ang iya case kay katong thermaltake na v2s na naay kapin na psu, then msi b75 na board with intel i3 3rd gen, 4gb ram. single monitor setup.

naa pani chance ma ayo?

@TS Before declaring nga ang Video Card gyud ang guba, did you try it in another PC? Kay basin ang PCI-E slot ang guba ana. Had this problem before sa akong friend nga dili na jd mo display ang iyang PC then we tried to remove the Video Card and used the Belt in VGA then okay ra sya so I declared nga guba ang Video Card kay I noticed nga inig taod nako sa Video Card sa iyang Motherboard (dli na mo tuyok iyang FAN), so ako gi try ang Video Card sa akong PC (mo tuyok man iyang FAN then mo display sya). So I told him nga iyang PCI-E Slot sa iyang Mobo jd ang guba. Tried all the possible troubleshooting to make it sure nga dli jd iyang PCI-E Slot ang guba maybe naa ray nausab settings sa BIOS so gi reset nako ang CMOS but same ra ghapon. Tried reconnecting all the cables. Remount the CPU. Used another PSU. Try another Video Card sa iyang Mobo but no luck jd.

Regarding anang brown marks or imong gi ingon nga gi taya and a white mark as well, I think that is just normal, had several GPU's also nga naay brown marks near the soldered components og white marks pd. I found out kanang white marks or brown marks looks like a residue left over from either wave soldering or hand soldering. Also, try smelling your VCARD daw TS if nanimaho ba og sunog, and have you noticed mo tuyok ba ang FAN sa VCARD katong wala syay display before nimo gi ibot?

wow thanks sa imo insights sir! wala pud nuon nako gi try na sulayan nako ron ig uli... kay ako man daun gi assume na ang gpu gud tungod sa katong smear marks sa likod. update nya ko if na try nako thanks kaau. if ever naay corrosion sir just like sa kana imo picture, makita man sad nimo sa kato ako na naa pud siya corrosion, ok rani siya?

I believe it's not a corrosion bro murag brown marks na sya due to a flux residue but i'm not so sure kay same man cla og color gd sa corrosion based on the picture. Never heard of corrosion problems though but it could also be one of the possible problem. There are lot of cases why corrosion occurs bsan pa og wala mabasa imong video card, it also depends on the environment of your location.

Update lang nya if na try na nimo ang Video Card in other PC and other troubleshooting na imong na buhat hehe..

1 year? murag naa pa nay warranty... kung nag register na sa zotac site, pwede pa na sa ilang extended warranty...

Your extended warranty is active. You have covered up to 5 years from the purchase date. In case of warranty, you need to provide a copy the confirmation letter above; and also you need to provide a copy of your purchase invoice.

Hala hala i dont think na register ni niya sa zotac pwde pa kaha ni ma register or pwde ba kaha ma claim ang extended warranty bisan wala pa na register? it think naa ra ang resibo ani. sa pcx mani gi palit last year. mayta pwde haha

IMHO, double checking the GPU from another MOBO is a wise decision but before doing so, make sure you’ve clean already the corroded part (as per what pix you have posted) or else you will risk your other MOBO and other parts as well from being shortage(damage).

You can perhaps do this…

+ Lacquer thinner or Isopropyl Alcohol will best suit the job.

Been encountered this many times before but that was due to some stupid crazy little rats playing inside the system units. Just a small hole and they managed to penetrate and give shit on MOBO and GPU. Pagturn-on aw nagpaka2x jud dayon sud and smoke coming… Unfortunately, wa najud tawon na ayo ang MOBO but ang GPU nada pag ayo thru some proper cleaning….

wala nako na limpyohan pa na try ra nako ang kato gi suliti ni @wylliexhan pero igo ra mu siga and spin mga less than 1 second ang fans then wala na daon. wala na nako gi usban kay basin maamong ako board.
@werty and @chrisangel try nako limpyo nya laters pero how about the warranty thingy naa kaha to pagasa?
