ram question, 4x 4gb or 2x 8gb

planning to go 16gb ram

galibog lang ko if gonna go dual channel and get 2x 8gb

or since i have an existing kingston hyper x black 1600, 2x 4gb mag palit nlng kog laing 2x 4gb
and go quad channel 4x 4gb ram

if ill go 2x 8gb mag buy napod kog new and dispose my old 2x 4gb, anyone can suggest if unsa nga 2x 8gb akong paliton sad??

if 2x8gb less power tingale ts kay duha ra ka 1.5v naka paslak sa mobo. if 4x4gb mo upat ka 1.5v kay na paslakan man tanan slot. nya same capacity pajud. ako raning na basahan. hehe

Yup. 2 sticks dual channel slightly faster by benchmark not noticeable in real life.
4 stick dual channel most likely to strain the memory controller of the mobo.

^ if you'll use 4 mem modules, it is still considered dual channel hence, your mobo chip set only supports dual channel... just go ahead and purchase the 2nd pair on Kingston HyperX Black...

in real world, speed is irrelevant when you compare 2 mem modules and 4 mem modules on a dual channel system... granting, they have the same frequency...

my gaming PCs (ATX and m-ATX rigs... both are Z77 chipset based) here used 4 x 4 GB mem modules (16 GB) each... akoa lang gi puno kay para wla'y blanko na slots... usik2x ni's wawarts... tuwingwingwing... ayaw mo sunod nko... hehehe... hinoon, gamiton ni nko'g video editing using Adobe Creative Suite 4 sila para hobby2x... gamit ra ang 16 GB mem...

And btw wht mobo diay ka boss? ang quadchannel kay sa 2011, 2011-3 socket raman. og kanang 4 dimm or slot is dual channel ra. but 4 sticks lang.

depende if unsay future nmo plano... if naa ka plan to go beyond 16gb in a few months or so deretso dual-kit na 16gb, dispose old rams... but if sakto ra nmo 16gb then just get another 2x4gb set. performance and power-usage wise, wala man noticable diffference. take pud if for basic use ba ni or tweaking/overclocking kai mu matter pud dha imo final decision

@Boss werty, mag tweak2 ra noon kos GPU but sa procie di ko mag OC
mao sad boss for future plans kay planning to get i7 procie puhon though gaming ra noon main purpose ani hehehe
i guess sa geh post ni psychyze, ill get 2x 8gb kit nlng maka kuha pakog 1866 nga ram for the future rig, huwat pas 13th month hahaha
