    Default OEM vs Retail GPU

hello again mga gpu experts, i happened to stumble upon a GPU that is being sold for like half the price of its retail price..

the catch is it's an OEM version.. what's the difference diay between OEM and the retail version other than the obvious stuff (price, packaging and warranty) the same lang ba gihapon ni sila ug performance with the retail versions? at roughly half the price savings, is it worth buying it?

OEM are worth buying if that OEM is still the manufacturer of that certain brand, mas barato ang OEM kay sila nag himu and a certain brand paid them to make it for them and place their brands on it mao mahal ang naay brand compared sa oem

if OEM GPU, depende na sa OEM GPU bro... to site an example... these are all OEM GPUs used by DELL & HP PCs (just to mention 2)... the same ra ni sila'g manufacturer sa mga retail or boxed GPUs...

performance wise, mag depende na gyud na sila from model to model as offered by OEM and retail/boxed variants...

    For HD 7770 (retail):
    > OEM (Dell & HP PCs): model nila kay HD 8760 (mao ni ang naa sa BIOS)... differ lang sila sa series number... nothing else was changed.

it is 100% the same as with my 2 x Onda HD 7770 GHZ Ed...

    For GTX 660 (retail):
    > OEM (Dell & HP PCs): model nila kay GTX 660 1.5 GB VRAM... check the shaders. it is 1,152. normal GTX 660 have only 960 shaders. the GPU chip used is GK104. the same chip used on the GTX 660 Ti, 670 and 680. the normal GTX 660 use GK106 GPU chip...

nothing fancy... its just a reference design...

w/ 1 x 6 pin power connector... the same as with the normal or standard GTX 660...

w/ dual SLI bridge connector... the same as with the GTX 660 Ti, 670 & 680. this babe is capable for 3-way SLI... again, this variant is based on the GK104 GPU chip...

    For GTX 650 (retail):
    > OEM (Dell & HP PCs): model nila kay GTX 650 512 MB VRAM... check the bus width, it is only 64 bit but still use the GK107... normal GTX 650 (GK107) have 128 bus width...

nothing fancy... this is just 100% the same as with the reference design...

thanks master lloyd_joy ug LordZhen.. other than directly contacting the dealer/seller, is there any way of determining if the product being offered as OEM si the same manufacturer for that brand?

i was skimming through some online shops looking for some Western toy collectibles (my other hobby) when nakakita ko sa ebay nag offer ug GTX 770 OEM. price of which is only 4,700.00 shipped, so anybody would probably pressed theat 'buy this' button in a heartbeat if ever (which unfortunately i did last night lol) later on nako nakarealize na dapat unta siguro mag-consult sa ko sa mga masters before even pressing that button lol.

this is the specification of the OEM version:

    Brand : OEM
    Model : GeForce GTX770
    Applicable Type : Desktops
    Core Code : GK104
    Manufacturing Process : 28nm
    Core Frequency : 1201mHz
    Memory Type Support : DDR3
    Memory Capacity : 2GB/2048MB
    Memory Interface : 384bit
    Memory Frequency : 6008mHz
    Power supply : 6 pin
    Directx Version : Directx 11
    Graphics Interface : PCI Express 3.0 x 16

so far what i noticed are ang its boost clock, memory interface with is higher than the retail version while its memor frequency is slightly lesser and it uses only a single 6 pin for supplementary power.. not that well verse with the minute details and its implication so i don't have any idea at all how will this perform in gaming lol.. okay ra ba iyang specs?

    it's worth ur bucks bro.

you can actually buy a box of it and sell at PhP8K

and still it will be selling like hotcake,

    because it is GTX770!

    even at OEM setting
no card at PhP8K can be on par with it's performance

not to mention it's just PhP4700 for u..

    buy 2 for SLI flavor

    @ giver_bert,

be sure lang gyud na "genuine" or "legit" na sya... kay kun dili, daghan kaayo ang choloks baya... igo ra nila i-flash ang BIOS... hehehe... if ang product legit/ genuine, then go for it...

pero, duda ko sa price ana nya. even OEM, dili in ana ka barato... ang kanang GTX 660 OEM kay priced at 900 rmb... roughly, 6,570 php... excluding the shipment to any place here in main land China... sa 4.7K na price for a GTX 770 OEM, it is good to be true...

by the way, gahapon, kita ko diri'g Power Color Devil R9 270x priced at 1,099 rmb... roughly, 8,023 php... akoang gi contact ang seller... but, until now, wla man mo reply... hehehe... normal price sa ani na GPU diri kay 1,600 rmb (11,680 php)... good to be true kaayo ang price nya gyud...

@lloyd_joy: mao pud lagi akong duda boss.. he was only selling 5 units and what i bought was the last stock (mao pud to by reflex siguro nakapress ko diresto sa buy this hehe kay hadlok ma unhan. i requested some details (specs, screenshots etc) ni reply man pud. but anyways, i am not keeping my hopes high, curious lang gyd ko how it will perform nya, i will share it lang once i get hold of the card.

@butitoy: nah usa naman lang nahabilin bro bert pag buy nako, then at its given price medyo di pud ko gusto mo sugal.. mahulog ra gyd ni out of curiousity ning pagkapalita nako hehehe,

this is how the card looks like:

don't really mind the cooler basta hopefully if it is really genuine, then my search for a decent GPU to pair with this is solve:

actual GPU ani mura'g GTS 250 man siguro... ayaw palit ana bro...

by the way bro, na igo ko ug in ani... it was claimed by the seller that this product was a legit GT 640. upon its installation, I had checked it using 3DMark 11... sus, dili mo dagan kay dili kuno mo support og DX11. so, akoang gi ablihan ang cooler para ma check ang GPU. i found out that, it was a GT215 GPU... and the unit is not a Galaxy GT 640 1GB DDR5 but a Sparkle GT 240 1GB DDR5... akoang gi contact ang seller then iyahang gipa ug balik sa iyaha did2 sa Shenzhen then gi refund nya ang akoang money...

for a legit GTX 680, naa'y ta'g 1,600 rmb (11,680 php) for a bnew unit and 1,400 rmb (10,220 php) for a bnew GTX 670... i'll just name this 2... naa pa'y daghan barato... hehehe... gasto gyud kaayo diri oi... halos tanan, mga 97 ~ 99% sa PC HW components, mapalit nato diri sa main land China...
