Default Do I need to Upgrade my Graphics Card?

Hi istoryans! I just want to know if i need to upgrade my Graphics Card or not. I just did a test using heaven benchmark and the result was only 27 FPS. I was searching and curious about FPS and was aware that human eyes can see 30 FPS, but some of the sites recommend 50-60 FPS when it comes to gaming. Is it true? So, it came to my mind i need to upgrade my current Graphics Card. i am really not into overclocking since havent tried it yet Dili ba siya bottleneck akong GPU sa current specs sa akong PC? or need jud nako mo upgrade? and what are your recommendations and suggestions? These are the current specs of my rig.

    cpu: intel core i7-3770
    mobo: asus p8h77-m le
    ram: corsair veangeane 2x4gb
gpu: palit gtx 660 ti jetstream
    ssd: sandisk extreme 120gb
    hdd: western digital 1tb

I play FPS games like battlefield 3 4, call of duty mow, bo, ghosts, sniper ghost warrior, medal of honor, crysis 3, and far cry 3, etc. and i want these games to run in full hd maximum settings, i am using 23" full hd monitor right now. inig duwa nako og crysis 3 and far cry 3 inig max settings nako mo LAG pa siya gamay and any other games. So what would be the best Graphics Card should i use? Thanks!

^ if you want to have a max GFX setting on Crysis 3 w/out any complaint... get the GTX 780 Ti or R9 290x... kani, dili gyud ka mo reklamo ug lag ani... puslan man mag upgrade ka..

or another option, i-SLI nang GTX 660 Ti nimo bro... i'm a user of a GTX 660 Ti SLI before... those pair is a GEM...

ops, sorry, out of the equation ang SLI kay single PCIe slot ra man diay ang mobo nimo... you can go GTX 690 or HD 7990 or Asus Mars 760 if you want to go into muti GPU configuration...

by the way, naa to'y nice na offer did2 a B&S for a used GTX 690...

@lloyd_joy Thanks bro for the suggestion, yup i can't SLI using my board and i also can't afford to purchase another board for SLI kay akong casing gi gamit only for mATX motherboard corsair obsidian 350d, i should stick to 1 graphics card nlng.

For now dili ko ka afford sa gtx 780 ti or r9 290x haha sakit kaayo sa bulsa, akong budget kay for gtx 770 or r9 280x, should i get it? Or should i wait for the higher card? Gusto ko akong card will be usable for future games And what do you think ang mas okay kwaon ang gtx 770 or r9 280x?

Ask lang ko regarding anang SLI bro, do i need the same model and brand of my 660 ti para ma SLI nako? or is it okay to use another brand 660 ti? don't have experience with SLI yet.

    @wylliexhan

    280x

future games? pag AMD lang para naa kay Mantle pud in the future.

Crytek Engine which is make of Crysis kay ni apil napud sila sa line up sa mga Mantle developers. so expect nga ang next titles nila kay will be supporting Mantle which will run thru AMD GPUs.

to try Mantle, purchase BF4 and Thief with Mantle patches then boom. smoother ang gameplay. not really 100% sure na ni mga drivers pero padung na gyud limpyo tanan.

read also reviews 770 vs 280x for additional info.

akoang suggestion nmo bro, huwat sa 800 series ug sa upcoming offerings from AMD. labi n atong Maxwell na naka ARM GPU na offering from Nvidia... ang low details on Crysis 3, ok ra man sya... hasta pud sa Far Cry 3... para na dili ka maka gasto ug maayo... kun ganahan ka mo gasto aw, get the GTX 770 or the R9 280x... then inig gawas sa bag-o na offerings from both GPU players, mag kisi2x napud ka's upgraditis... hehehe... if you have the budget, then go for it... if limited, aw, kana lang usa... kun gusto ka'g taas2x pa ug resale value the GTX 660 Ti nimo ron, you have no choice but to let it go... then push through with your plan to get either the GTX 770 or the R9 280x...

for the SLI, pwede ra bisan unsa na brand sya... as long pareha ang GPU chip... kun dili pareho'g frequency, mo down clock nang fastest GPU sa frequency sa hinay... better, i-OC na sila para mag ka pareho ang frequencies kun different brands... or bisan the same brands, i suggest na i-manual OC lang gihapon para mapuga pa nimo ang performance sa pair.. or bisan naka single GPU lang gani... maka puga pata'g additional fps sa games...

current gamit nko diri sa main gaming rig kay Yeston GTX 670 SLI reference design but had manually OC'ed the pair... kumbati pa's alright sila... mao ni ang gi ilis nko sa akoang Inno3D GTX 660 Ti iChiLL in SLI...

for the API, ayaw kabalaka ana... mo gawas na ang official DX12... inig gawas ani ug support sa mga games, no bearing na ani ang Mantle... upcoming Nvidia drivers for the DX11 GPUs like the Fermi, Kepler and the current Maxwell will support DX12... both AMD and Nvidia will support DX12...

for Mantle's TrueAudio, na, in reality, wla kaayo ni gamit for now... why? karon, powerful kaayo ang CPU kaayo kaayo nya mag multi-task ug heavy processing. samot na inig pang gawas sa upcoming CPUs napud... audio wise, kun naa ka'y nice na audio system, that is more than enough... even the onboard sound chip will do basta nice ka'g speaker system... honestly, para sa akoa, marketing ra nang TrueAudio sa Mantle kay dili man ta mo gamit... sa mga mogamit ana nya, aw, its a "must have"... sa akoa lang, i will always prefer a home theater system kun ganahan ta'g nice audio... naa'y tag 10K php home theater system from LG and Samsung (barato ni sila during December)... it is more than enough for our need... actually, i can say to this kay gamit ko'g LG home theater system on our HTPC... ang gamit ra nko na sound chip kay ang sa Atom D2500HN ra gani... pwerte ka lami sa sound... samot na gamiton sya'g games... ang housemate nimo, palayason ka kun mag duwa ka'g FPS games tungod sa sounds... hehehe... music clarity wise in listening to your fav music and artist kay good kaayo pud sya... its more than enough gyud... no need to buy those uber high priced PCIe sounds cards (mahal2x lang ni sila)... again, for me, this is better than AMD's TrueAudio sa Mantle...

in the future siguro, kun mo embrace ang gaming companies sa Mantle, but we don't know... but for sure, the competition will not sit and wait lang pud... kun asa ka lipay ron, kana palita. don't think for the future kay sa atoang passion, the future is now... kay inig abot sa tomorrow, kaning current HW nato, naa na'y lain na mas better... so, kisi2x napud ta'g upgrade... paets...

pahabol... fact ni sya... in number crunching, the GPUs are much better than CPUs... maong once na i-offload na did2 sa GPU ang work load, mas mo better ang performance kay the CPU is free to do other processing... usa ni sa ginahimo sa Mantle and DX12 APIs maong, mas better ni sila'g fps compared to DX11...

@lloyd_joy thanks for the suggestion bro, maybe i should wait for the 800 series but i think d ko kahuwat ana kay mangatol akong kamot, panagsa ra pod ko magduwaan inig day off ra, but kani laging ma tintal ta cge lang ta og "upgrade" hahays, naa man gd koy naibgan bag-o nga vcard gud rwn katong r9 280x toxic i really like the way it was designed then naa pod backplate choyan ko tan-awn ,

For the SLI bro thanks for the info wala jud koy experience ana haha maybe i should try? since there are 2 video cards already where should i connect my dvi cable bro? is it in the first graphics card? I really want to learn these things bro, especially overclocking my cpu and graphics card, don't know how to do it, the only thing i know is that u need a "K" cpu and "Z" mobo, but with regards to overclocking settings and how to do it wa ko khbw, but regarding sa gpu i've read some sites you can use software like msi afterburner, i tried installing it, but wa nako gsuway og overclock kay d ko khbw unsaon masunog palang akong video card haha. Naa kay nahibaw-an microATX nga motherboard bro for SLI? How does it work?

Right now, maybe i should consider myself selling my gtx 660ti and get the r9 280x toxic arun dili kaayo ko dako og gastos, arun inig release sa new series of vcard ready for upgrade again haven't heard about Yeston bro, brand na siya like asus, msi, palit, evga, etc? But anyways thanks for your suggestions bro.

kun mag R9 280x ka... nice nang gi pili nimo... egaton na sya bro... hehehe... visual and gaming performance ana nya kay very good kaayo... you can go wrong on that choice bro... go go go... hehehe...

on sli, you can connect your cable to the GPU 0... the GPU nearest in position to the CPU... you're right bro, gamit ra ta'g MSI Afterburner or Rivaturer... ang uban, naa na sila padala na OC apps for GPU... like EVGA... and sa AMD, naa man pud OC setting sa Catalyst nila... sa akoang HD 7770 GHz in crossfirex (sa akoang m-ATX rig), did2 ra ko nag OC sa AMD Catalyst...

for the CPU, you need a "K" variant and a Z series chip set mobo para naa ka'y full control... sa akoang m-ATX gaming rig bro, mobo nko kay MSI Z77MA-G45... mo support sya'g both Crossfirex and SLI... nice ni sya'g position sa PCIe slot kay naa sa 1st and 2nd slots... compatible ra sya kun mag SLI ta'g m-ATX chassis (4 slots compatible)...

for the SLI to work, i-configure ra na sya sa Nvidia Control Panel... just like sa AMD Catalyst... dali ra gyud kaayo... need lang ug bridge connector... sa GPU top tier, ang R9 290 and R9 290x ra dili mag gamit ug bridge connector for now inig configure nila'g Crossfirex... sa entry level pud, maka crossfirex tag HD 7750 w/out a crossfirex connector... dili mo gana ang HD 7770 kun wla ang bridge connector... naka testing ko's akoa...

Dont get the 770 or 280x. Theyd be hot cards for your case. And if ever you get the 280x, dont get it because it has Mantle which really is a pointless reason because it is already a fast cards. Mantle was really designed with the apu and the slower cards in mind. Not to forget, dx12 is already coming, which is the more universal api.

If I were you, id wait for maxwell na lang (plan pud ni nako). Just keep your card for now. Kadaog pa man na ug most games. Dont buy into the bandwagon and upgrade cards just to satisfy a single game. Optimize the settings na lang so you could get at least 30fps on crysis 3.

@wylliexhan stand down and don't move a muscle
paghuwat sa umaabot nga specs an don't waste your cash
Ang imong current GPU can hold its own with the current games just don't go ultra high and just keep yourself entertained with medium-high settings.

Listen to the words of wisdom of these 2 very kind and ever loving gurus @lloyd_joy @keropi

For some odd reason my ASUS 650 ti boost is able to provide me decent FPS around 40+ in high settings for all current games. My GPU resolution though is very in sync with my Samsung monitor ever united resolution couple

@lloyd_joy bro thank u kaayo for the information, i've finally decided to wait the 800 series nlng right now i am satisfied playing FPS games with medium high settings makadagan man ghapon og 1920 pero dli jud ultra settings, next time bro patodlo nya ko nimo unsaon pag overclock sa cpu and gpu in the right way if i'll upgrade in the future, i want to have an overclocking cpu and mobo para pod maka experience ko. Og kato pod home theater system bro, very nice gyud siya na setup, my uncle used to have that one surround kaayo og sound murag cinehan but dli pwede sa akong side bro kay daghan kog silingan hahaha.

With regards to AMD's Mantle bro it's my first time nakadungog ko ana when you mentioned it na curious na nuon ko ana ilang Mantle because i am always with Nvidia, i never tried using AMD Graphics Card even once. but according ni boss @keropi this Mantle API is pointless since it was designed for APU, bitaw pod we have fast cards right now so what's the point? And thank you for the information bro, my casing is very small, init jud kaayo sangatanan akong 660ti mo reach og 75-80c ang temperature basta max settings, how much more if i upgrade?

I am more than happy to wait the 800 series and dx12, right now ako lang sa i keep or save akong budget for the future gpu's pero naa man gud usahay maka feel ta og upgraditis, but thanks sa inyong advice
@FuLLMetaLJackEt sakto imong point bro, my current gpu right now okay ra gyud siya with the current games satisfied man ko sa medium high settings maybe i'll consider myself nlng for the future release.
