    Default External HDD vs NAS appliance vs DIY NAS

    Balik nasad ko pangutana kay murag nalubog nato akong thread pero lahi nani nga questions.

    Asa mas cheaper ug nindot (fast, reliable) External HDD or NAS appliance or DIY NAS

    Here are the list nga ako kailangan:

    • Download torrent files (24/7 I guess if dako2 ang files ipang download)
    • Backup important and multimedia (160gb music files and some videos)
    • Can access it through LAN/Wifi
    • Can access it via iTunes (for my iPod)
    • Should be fast

    Optional:
    • Can create system image/backup windows 7 copy

    Portability is not an issue kay pwede rako wala na nga mga files while I'm on mobile.

    then kani palita :

    AMD LLANO A4-3300 (2.5 Ghz) 1,450
    ECS A55F2 M3 GL DDR3 with AVL 1,795

    + 2Gb RAM + 1TB HDD

    2nd hand casing + PSU

    ++

    being an HTPc is a plus , just connect it to ur LED TV and ur done

    use win8 for better power management

    but the Best option is : buy second hand dualcore netbook with big HDD

    +++

    NAS appliance < IMPLIES BIG BUDGET!

    ^ Crossout dualcore netbook sa option kay butangan nako ug 2TB HDD (+ 2TB for future upgrade).

    Kana imong gipang mention kay maabot na ug 5k + True rated PSU (- 2 TB HDD)? Plano ko install ug opensource OS para NAS.

    Torrent Router + External HDD will do the job. I am using Asus RT-N16.

    • Download torrent files (24/7 I guess if dako2 ang files ipang download) ----- YES
    • Backup important and multimedia (160gb music files and some videos) ----- YES
    • Can access it through LAN/Wifi ----- YES, I can watch downloaded movies directly sa akong TV (with wifi dongle), Smartphone and Tab (via BSPlayer Android App)
    • Can access it via iTunes (for my iPod) - YES
    • Should be fast ---- Average

    Akong gi dispose akong NAS kay mas makasave ko ani nga set up in terms of energy and $$$$
