External HDD vs NAS appliance vs DIY NAS

Balik nasad ko pangutana kay murag nalubog nato akong thread pero lahi nani nga questions.

Asa mas cheaper ug nindot (fast, reliable) External HDD or NAS appliance or DIY NAS

Here are the list nga ako kailangan:

• Download torrent files (24/7 I guess if dako2 ang files ipang download)
• Backup important and multimedia (160gb music files and some videos)
• Can access it through LAN/Wifi
• Can access it via iTunes (for my iPod)
• Should be fast

Optional:

• Can create system image/backup windows 7 copy

Portability is not an issue kay pwede rako wala na nga mga files while I'm on mobile.

Boss, murag dako2 ako ma budget ani dah. Ganahan lang unta ko ug second hand nga mga items nga low powered + 3/4 SATA ports. I guess I don't need the HTPC capability unya maka buhat ko sa akong gipang mentioned sa thread description.
