Eva delos Santos (born October 1, 1962) is a Filipino entrepreneur, housewife, and singer from Cebu who is currently a contestant on the first season of The Voice of the Philippines.Her daughter, Monique delos Santos, auditioned before her but did not advance to the battle rounds.Before she became a mother and an entrepreneur, music had been part of Eva's life.

Born and raised in Bohol, the young Eva moved to Cebu City for college, where she began performing. During her glory days of singing, she was able to perform around the country and in some major cities around Asia.In late 1980's, she fell in love and got married. Eva decided to put music in the backseat to give way to her life's new challenges as a wife and as a mother. As this mother reaches her golden years, Eva wanted to give herself a chance to continue the music where she left it off.

She joined the competition not only for the chance of making her dreams come true, but to inspire people her age that they can still dream new dreams, or awaken passion in hiatus.

Rama to public: Vote for Eva de los Santos

CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama wants Cebuanos to rally behind a local singer trying to make it in the national arena through the singing competition The Voice Philippines.

He wants to do for Eva de los Santos what the Cebuanos did for Raki Vega, who won as Ultimate Diva in a national reality competition in 2004.

“I am announcing that I will support her as a way of supporting local talents,” said
Rama.



Long-time friends

The mayor said he did the same during Vega’s time, announcing his support in public with hopes that Cebuanos would vote for the singer.

But Rama’s support is not just because de los Santos is a Cebuana but also because she is a friend.

He said de los Santos was a singer at the Magellan’s Hotel in the 1980s.

Rama said de los Santos sent him a text message, asking for support as she battled in the competition last Aug. 10.

The mayor said he advised her to rest her voice.

De los Santos is among the older contestants in The Voice at 51.

Young singer Sarah Geronimo chose de los Santos to be in her team and fondly calls the latter “Mommy Eva.”

In her resume, de los Santos said, “I am patient (in) pursuing my dream of making it far in the music industry.”



Background

De los Santos has four children with husband Ruben David de los Santos.

She was born in Jagna, Bohol but received her education degree from the Cebu Normal University in Cebu City.

De los Santos looks up to Whitney Houston and Tina Turner as her idols and also considers three of four The Voice judges as favorites—Geronimo, Lea Salonga and Bamboo.

Kim Chiu, Keana Reeves and Slater Young are testaments to the Cebuano voting power.

They won in different seasons of Pinoy Big Brother, a reality competition that also relies on text votes.
