6-vehicle smashup injures PB member’s wife, 15 others

THE wife of Provincial Board (PB) Member Julian Daan was injured after the car she was riding figured in a six-vehicle accident on N. Bacalso Ave. yesterday afternoon.
Fifteen other passengers were injured in the accident that happened at 2:45 p.m.
Yolanda, Yoli to family and friends, suffered a wound in her left eyelid.
She was inside the Montero with four others in a convoy to the cemetery for the burial of a lay minister when incident happened.


Yoli said her husband was not with them because he decided to stay home.
“Ang nerbyos nako ganiha grabe (I was really shocked after the incident)”, Yoli told Sun.Star Cebu.
She said she just put an alcohol on the wound and decided not to go to the hospital since it was not severe.
She said her driver complained of pain in his right leg.
The accident also caused three-hour traffic in the area.
The smash-up happened after a Kaohsiung Bus reportedly hit the back of a Toyota Revo.
Then the Revo hit a multicab in front of it. The multicab, in turn, hit a Mitsubishi Montero that was reportedly boarded by the wife Daan, Yolanda.
The Mitsubishi Montero also hit another multicab before bumping a Hyundai.
“It created a domino effect. Pagdumbol sa kaohsiung, nanga-igo natong gauna nga sakyanan,” traffic investigator Edgardo Becoy said.
“Nilapas na man sila sa traffic light. The bus just failed to slow down and miscalculated,” Becoy said.
The Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) are still gathering the names of the passengers and drivers of the vehicles involved.
He said they arrested the Kaohsiung bus driver, Bryan Quimada, 26.
The bus had 50 passengers.
Becoy said sixteen people were injured, with two of them being rushed to the hospital.
They were identified as Delfino Marcelo and Geraldine Falcon.
The vehicles were also damaged.
