modify file permissions.. make sure you are the owner of the file and change permissions so that the "owner" of the file alone can modify, provided you are using ntfs, .

nindot bitaw ni na feature sa ntfs, pero pag nanghilabot mga nakahibaw na ani, kinahanglan nasad nimo i disable ang folder options-->view tab, para dili mahilabtan ang simple file sharing check box. try googling "folder security" na software. i lock jud niya tibouk folder apil ang file sa sulod.
pero if anyone knows another simple way (windows' way) please share

Kung (Word) document na bro, you can convert it to PDF then i-set ang Permissions.

Kung other files, like sa gi-suggest ni chocomai, change the permissions kung NTFS imo harddisk. I-disable ang "Use simple file sharing" sa My Computer>>Tools>>Folder Options>>View tab para maka-change ka ug permissions. Mogawas na ang Security inig right-click nimo sa Folder nga gibutangan sa file, .

word/excel/powerpoint - password protect the file. When saving, click save as, click tools, security options, it has an option for you to put password to modify.

notepad - right click file, click properties, click readonly (*=P*)

As long as you own the file and you set the permissions to read-only for other users in the PC, they can't do s**t on that file.

hehehe, i have had that with my computers in my cafe, they dont offer protection, dali ra gihapon ma delete na.

di nimao akong pasabot. its not hiding folder or sharing folders, but actually offering security, to a specific folder, example kng na set na nga ang only ang owner ang maka read sa folder, when somebody accesses it, mu error "You do not have permission to access this " same as when you would normally access the "system volume information" in your root drive.
