Default Something Wicked This Way Comes...

Disclaimer: This (sadly) is not satire.

Following threats from fundamentalist Islamic groups in Indonesia to create chaos should Lady Gaga be permitted to perform a concert this June, Christian groups here in the Philippines seem to have jumped on the bandwagon with group members describing her songs as "grossly blasphemous, immoral, lewd and carrying demonic and occultist undertones".

Now I can understand not liking Lady Gaga for being erm.... crap, but do folks really believe that she worships Satan and is on some kind of mission to convert the nations youth into devil worshiping delinquents?

Filipino Christian conservatives? Why can't they just post the name of the group that wants her to get banned? A lot of Filipino Christian conservatives don't even know her to care about her.

IMHO. I rooted for the Islamic fundies in Indonesia.

I wonder why these religious groups failed to see that vampires, werewolves and wizards also has "demonic and occultist undertones".. Why didn't they protest then?

And if it's Lady Gaga's homosexual tones on her songs that got these groups afraid of her, why aren't they banning Justin Bieber music too?

Because stories like Dracula, Little Red Riding Hood, King Arthur, Beowulf etc..actually have moral lessons to it. The books I mean. Actually Beowulf and most of the early Arthurian sagas were likely to be written by Christian monks even though they were stories from the twilight years of pagan Europe.

Many Christian writers also write fantasy in case you forgot.

C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, G.K. Chesterton to name a few.

Books that get banned in the old times were from authors like Marquis de Sade. Even Napoleon was shocked by his works that he ordered him arrested.

    Led Zeppelin - satanic
    AC/DC - satanic
    Madonna - satanic
    Chicago - satanic (lol debatable)
    Rolling Stones - satanic
    Dio - satanic
    Ozzy - satanic
    Backstreet Boys - (definitely satanic)

What's new? Let these people pound sand all they want.

And really, what's more evil and worth protesting about? The boy-touching clergyman, or the campier version of Madonna who just wants your attention?

Maybe Manny Pacquiao is against Lady Gaga performing in the Philippines in behalf of the Filipino Christian Community.

As long as any performer doesn't violate any laws then banning should not be possible. They can protest though. Well, this is a free country.
