I have a CDR-King 8gb flash drive. It is about half way full. I found some folders that have invalid file names(.exe & scandal.exe) that I can't remove, so to remedy this situation I want to format the drive. I have tried using many different methods such as:
1. in "my computer" right click on the drive and then "format" - I tried both quick and regular format and it does not work saying that
the disk is write protected
2. right click on "my computer", then "manage", then "disk management" then select the drive and then click format - this didn't work, I tried reassigning the letter to the drive and that did not work.
3. in command prompt I tried "format f:" and got the message:
Invalid media or
Track 0 bad - disk unusable - so no go
4. I tried various software such as
KillDiskSuite Free,
Low Level Format and HDD Wipe from HDDGuru.com - and that didn't work.
5. I tried to do error checking through "my computer" right click on the drive and then go to the tools tab and chose Error-Checking - there if I check "automatically check disk errors", then after a few seconds i get a message "
windows was unable to complete the disk check"
AND at the same time, I can access the files on the flash drive and work with most of them with no problem.
