Default Catholics to observe ‘Day of Penance’ for ‘blasphemous’ art exhibit

Nope, this is not a "DAY OF PENANCE" for the Catholic s3x abuses that have entrenched the Catholic Church over the years, but a DAY OF PENANCE for a simple ART GALLERY!

    --------------------------

MANILA, Philippines—The Catholic Church on Tuesday set August 26, a Friday, as a “Day of Penance” to seek forgiveness from God for the “blasphemous” exhibit shown at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales urged Catholics to do acts of penance and sacrifice, like fasting and “other forms of mortification,” to seek God’s forgiveness for the exhibit, which he said was a “public sin” of “sacrilege and blasphemy.”

Hmm. Kuyaw kaayo ug priorities. Nganong wala man lagi man lagi penance when the issues of child abuse by the clergy arose, when the Mitsu-bishops were exposed,or for the simple fact that millions of Filipinos starve and wallow in poverty every day?

Mas bug-at para nila ang "sala" sa usa ka artist nga nag himo ug hulagway involving a ***** and a statue of an obviously caucasian man being crucified kaysa sa tanang mga nabuhat nila since 2000 AD.

God has long forgiven them for the Mitsubishi's. I'm sure he'll also forgive them for the art gallery. Napasaylo man gani ang Inquisition, kani pa ba.

Remember, God is a forgiving GOD.

The Catholic Church doesn't believe in GABA. Reward and punishment as per Catholic Theology is reserved for the afterlife.

Kung ako si Jesus, I really wouldn't care about some artist putting a p3n1s on a grossly inaccurate and rather racist portrait of me. Kung gusto man gani mo mag-penance, do it for the relief of the poor, for the cleansing of the corrupt, and eradication of hypocrisy within the clergy.

Jesus after all hated the hypocritical high priests and Pharisees and their trivial concerns.

I can understand why it's a contradiction to ask: If God is all-powerful, can He create a stone so heavy that He cannot lift it? But I don't think it would be a contradiction to ask: Can't God take care of these "blasphemies" by Himself, without human beings taking insult on his behalf?

This just goes to show how little the Catholic hierarchy thinks about their God. Look at how big the universe is, compared to our tiny, tiny earth...if God created that, why would He even bother what creatures (evolved primates at that) the size of a quark (relative to our own solar system) think about Him? These people are obviously still wedded to the Sky God imagery.

As Richard Feynman would say, "It's not even in proportion."

God's ego sure needs lots of massaging.

I wonder if International Blasphemy Day is going to be celebrated this year..
