Default Sen Miriam Santiago plans to ban cars that 2008 and older

I dont know if my fellow istoryans have heard about this. I came across the news over the TV last tuesday but i read about it again today.

So as the title goes, indeed this senator wants to ban cars which are 2008 and below.

Whats your opinion on this issue? I know Cebu enjoys a very colorful and vibrant car culture and i'd hate it if it goes away. I enjoy looking at and actually owning a classic car so if this bill passes does it mean the only place for my car is my garage?

2008?..... We've got vehicles from the early 80's here and sellers still demand unrealistic prices for them!

2008 is way too ambitious and smacks of elitism.

I'm kinda in favor with this. It would certainly decongest the roads and would reduce air pollution. Wala nanang mga jeep nga grabe kaayog aso sa tambocho. And it would also reduce car accidents kay panagsa nalang nang mga sakyanan nga mawalaan ug brakes etc.

The only problem with this is maka kaya ba ta ani. This would mean that we would have to constantly sell our old cars and buy new ones. And not to mention one of my family's businesses involves selling 2nd hand cars, it would be a huge blow to us. But..... whatever is better for the country.

Bottomline is we're just not ready for this. 2008 is way too much. I like the idea but it's not realistic with our current economy. Majority if not all of us here cannot afford to buy a new car every what.. 4 years? It's too much. Swerte naman gani nang makapalit kag Brand new nga sakyanan.. grabe nang tigom nimo ana... unless you're a Bishop though .

2008? Grabeha pod ana. Pila na lang kaha'y sakyanan managan sa kadalanan ana. Daghan pa mang sakyanan nga more than 5 years old na pero kondisyon pa gihapon.
