CEBU CITY, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña wants to ban private vehicles from the city’s main roads during peak hours to help jeepney drivers following the recent adjustment in fuel prices.

With private vehicles off the streets, he explained that jeepney drivers would earn more because they would be able to make more trips.

I for one will be affected by this... I'm not really in favor of this.

[color=navy]On my part, not really affected by this since I commute on most weekdays. And the ban of private vehicles will most likely take effect in the city’s arterial roads, which include N. Bacalso Avenue, S. Osmeña Road and N. Escario Street.. these are not my usual routes during a work week.

For others, however, this would be an inconvenience but don't owners of private vehicles usually avoid such heavy traffic by using alternative routes and short cuts?

Anyway, the ban is still on proposal stage. According to the article, its feasibility is still under evaluation.

[color=navy]I think it's like those posted in sign posts at street corners and intersections where there is NO LEFT/RIGHT TURN at 6 AM to 8AM, then at 10 AM to 2PM then at 4 PM to 7PM, somehow along those hours.

mao gyud. daghan mga PUJ drivers na walay dicspline. tarong ba na mohunong tunga kay manguha ug pasahero. anywayz.. maau unta wala labot mga motor ani kay mag motor nalang mi. hehehe

Para lang jud nako, dili jud ni cya mao ang solution. Mas maayo pa ila sa jud iklaro ang Mass Public transportation system sa Cebu... Jeepneys are obsolete in a growing Metroplis like Cebu City...

pero not to the point na i ban jud tanan..dapat murag naa pod odd-even scheme sa major roads..
