There have been numerous threads lately about gaining weight and losing weight. I will try to be as simple as possible for you peeps to understand.
GAINING WEIGHT.. BE IT MUSCLE OR FATS
Ok so we all know that we need to EAT to GET BIG right? But the question is.. How much do we need to eat? I can tell you right now that there is NO answer for that. It's all about TRIAL and ERROR. We just don't know how fast your metabolism is! EAT... won't get big? EAT MORE!! Still not getting any bigger?! THEN EAT MORE!!! It's that simple!
Now. If you want to gain Muscle. You have to make sure that you are getting enough protein into your system. Remember. PROTEIN contains AMINO ACIDS. Amino acids = Building blocks for MUSCLE. So if you're eating small amounts PROTEIN... And you're eating MORE(more on carbs and fats) than what your body needs.. What happens? THEY TURN TO FATS!!. Some would suggest eating 1g of protein for every lb of bodyweight.
LOSING WEIGHT
Now that we know that in order to get big.. We need to eat more right? So how about if we want to get smaller.. Or want to lose weight? Obviously the opposite of EATING MORE right? Again.. It's all about TRIAL and ERROR.. If you're eating less than you normally would.. and still not losing weight.. What do you do? EAT LESSER!
Now for the hard part of losing weight.. I know most of you tend to starve yourself in order to lose weight.. I can tell you right now that this is the WORST thing you can do to lose weight.. Why? When you starve yourself.. Your brain tells your body to go on Survival mode.. What happens? The moment you eat from starving yourself. Your body will store the energy from the food to fats.. Why fats? Because a gram of FAT produces more energy than a gram of PROTEIN and CARBS combined! So now you should think twice of starving urself..
So now you ask yourself what to do? EAT LESS.. BUT NOT TOO LESS that you start to starve yourself. CUT WHAT YOU EAT SLOWLY.. And try to stay away from anything thats processed.
Gaining Muscle and Losing fat at the same time
?
Possible or impossible? VERY POSSIBLE! Alot of bodybuilder will strongly disagree with this.. WHY? Because they all rely on CALORIES IN VS CALORIES OUT! But really it's all about BIOCHEMISTRY and PHYSIOLOGY! There is actually a way where you can make your body burn fats from fat cells.. But how? Here's the hard part... You gotta stay LOW INSULIN. The only time you should have high insulin is POST workout.. So you might ask what is insulin? Insulin is a hormone that is secreted from your pancreas whenever carbs passes through your intestines.. Although insulin can help in MUSCLE GAINS.. It is also responsible for FAT STORAGE.. So whenever you stay LOW INSULIN... Your body produces more GLUCAGON.. So what is GLUCAGON? GLUCAGON is actually the opposite of INSULIN.. So if INSULIN = FAT STORAGE... GLUCAGON = FAT METABOLISM!. When INSULIN is high.. GLUCAGON is LOW and Vice Versa.
So how do we stay LOW INSULIN throughout the day? Simple! Eat carbs that are high in fiber! Notice i didn't say STAY AWAY FROM CARBS? You really don't have to stay away from carbs.. You just have to eat the RIGHT kinds of Carbs.. So why carbs with FIBER? FIBER = Slows down digestion. So what happens when digestion is slow? Slow release of carbs. Slow release of carbs = Low release of insulin.. Now what happens if you eat Carbs with no fiber? Like what we really love to eat.. WHITE RICE.. Now i notice how we love to eat more than a cup of rice at each setting.. Now you see how it all connects? ALOT of CARBS with no fiber = Fast digestion of carbs = Pancreas releases ALOT of insulin = FAT STORAGE
So now we know the two hormones responsible for FAT LOSS and FAT GAIN.. So how does staying low insulin make me build muscle and lose fat at the same time? SIMPLE. Workout and EAT ALOT while staying low insulin throughout the day(except for post workout) and you'll end up using FATS from your fat storage for body processes.. Or as some would call it metabolism.. This rarely happens to people who can't stay low insulin throughout the day. And it is secret of good workout programs with meal plans.
Hope you understand everything i have written
