Who is the filipino?

1. the ethnic group member
2. the chinese immigrant
3. the chinese mestizo
4. the spanish mestizo
5. the japanese mestizo
6. the fil-am

and now with the diaspora of koreans --> korean filipinos

and with the arab and chinese university students here --> more settlers/mestizos

for me, the term 'filipino' doesn't attach to one ethnicity but to a variety. and i think it's okay. it's a sign of life, movement, heterogeneity.

so now i say 'i'm a filipino of malay/spanish descent, whereas my friend is of chinese descent.'

either u look like a negrito or chinese then u can speak ilocano or cebuano or french or mandarin with a filipino citizen nanay or tatay u instantly become a Filipino... i think this is the law of the land. I think I can also consider a foreign passport holder who was born here or lived here for many years, can speak one of the dialect fluently and who thinks like one... but this is debatable... the law of the land doesnt accept such qualifications for a person to become a citizen of the country.

anyone who speaks the language, BORN and BRED to be Filipino, are the FILIPINOS!
