MANILA, Philippines - Are Pinoys pizza-crazy?
Yes we are, if one were to judge based on the growing demand for pizzas and the number of pizza stores opening in the country.
A US pizza chain, said to be the top consumer choice in the US, recently launched its flagship branch on Annapolis Road in Greenhills, San Juan to satisfy Pinoy pizza lovers.
Papa John's Pizza, which claims to be the world's third largest pizza chain, is enjoying good feedback so far.
"The Filipinos are very happy with the pizzas. Others who have tasted it while they were abroad commented on its taste – it’s the same wherever you go!” said Dato Francis Lee, Chairman of Berjaya Pizza (Philippines), Inc., the master franchise of Papa John’s Pizza in the country.

The pizza chain boasts of using healthy and tasteful ingredients to differentiate itself from the pack.
“Our commitment is to serve pizzas made only from the highest quality ingredients, including pizza sauce made with tomatoes that go from the vine to the can on average in less than 6 hours, cheese made from 100% mozzarella, and traditional pizzas made with fresh, never-frozen dough, hand tossed only when you place your order,” said Myles Felt, Papa John’s Vice President-International for Asia and the Middle East.
“We are happy with the welcome that we have received in the Philippines and look forward to expanding to 100 stores in the next 10 years," she added.
Earlier, Papa John's opened its first branches in the country at the Robinsons Galleria Veranda and at the University Mall along Taft Avenue in Manila.
